Colors for my FI''s attire

I have no idea what my FI wants to wear, as far as colors for his tie, vest, etc., go. He''s not sure either. Right now, he''s leaning toward wearing a tux since he''s never gotten to wear one before. I''ve told him that since it''s a late morning ceremony and a daytime reception, a suit would be a fine choice -- no tux required. Aside from whether or not he wears a tux, he still needs to choose a vest (right?) and/or (?) a tie. I''ve attached a recent picture of him so you can see his coloring (fair) and his hair (reddish goatee and reddish/brown hair). My dress is ivory with champagne sashes and my sister''s MOH dress is blue. I can post pics of those again if needed. Anyway, what colors would you recommend for my FI?

I'd take him to someplace like Men's Wearhouse, where he can look through a catalog and fabric samples of the rental options they have. J rented his double breasted tux there (which I think looks very much like a regular suit in the photos, just a little more elegant). The whole rental, including the tux, vest, tie, shirt, shoes, and cufflinks was only about $100. They have a ton of different vest color and pattern options, and matching ties for each. I brought the shawl that came with my dress so we could sort of match the beading.

I think a blue vest and tie would look great both with his coloring and your MOH's dress color.

I''m not really the best at these things, but I think people with your FI''s colouring look wonderful in shades of cream, gold, black, chocolate brown etc.

Thanks! I realize that I may be a dork for posting a picture of what my FI looks like in order to get advice on what he should wear. I thought it might be helpful info. though...

And I agree...I think he's goshdarn handsome too.

Does Men's Warehouse carry suits for those of varying sizes? My FI tends to stick with Casual Male but I'd be thrilled if he found a suit elsewhere. I'll go check out their site. Thanks for posting it Selkie!

Awww, what a cute picture of your FI!

Are you having a formal wedding? If so, he could wear the traditional daytime formal attire--a morning suit (cutaway coat with tails, gray pinstripe trousers, gray vest, ascot or tie). I love morning suits, if you do a google image search you''ll find some great pictures. Men look quite dashing in smart morning suits, I must say. Yum.

I''m not sure about color, I wouldn''t vary the color for a morning suit, but perhaps a slightly different shade from whatever the groomsmen are wearing would work with a tux. Maybe try a champagne color to match your dress.
