Coming out of hiding..introducing myself

Hello everyone! Alright so I''ve been lurking on and off for about 4 years now, and I figured it just might be time for me to make an appearance!

My name is Melissa, and I’ve been dating my boyfriend for 7.5 years. We met in high school (choir class) and we’ve been together ever since. We went to the same college but he’s a year older so we’ve had a lot of long distance time, not to mention that right now I’m in medical school and he’s getting his PhD in another state. We''ve talked about marriage for a while...we''ve practically planned everything from the centerpieces to the party favors. Around January we had an extensive (the last of many) conversation and decision about which ring I wanted. Now he just needs to buy it! So he has all the information he needs...he just hasn''t asked yet!! It''s been 7.5 years!! I''m going crazy!!!!

BUT I think (I hope) the end of my torture might be nearby…I am taking my first board exam for medical school and then we are going on a vacation for 2 weeks to Europe (he’s paying for the whole thing!!!)

Afterwards he’s planned this giant party with everyone we’ve ever known coming (some people from pretty far away) and at the moment there isn’t a very clear reason as to why we are having it. Engagement announcement, perhaps? So…maybe, just maybe, my wait is almost over???

Oh how exciting! I just took step 1 TODAY!!! It''s so great to know there''s someone else out there who is dealing with engagement stuff and boards at the same time!

Holy crap, how did it go? I take step 1 on the 18th, I'm completely and utterly terrified! Congrats to you!!!!! I'm jealous!

You know, it went ok I think...

I mean some questions I totally knew the answer and I felt so good! Other questions, I was like... I vaguely maybe remember this... and I can narrow it down so 50/50 isn''t bad, right?

A few though I was just SOL. Haha. It happens though.

Don''t get freaked out that the real test is only 48 qs/block. I totally thought at first something was wrong with my test!

Oh and I took the day off before the exam and I think it didn''t make one ounce of difference that I didn''t use the extra day to study. So, do your thing!

oooh and if you''re high anxiety, like me, I''d recommend you try a sleep aid a night or two before the night before and see if you like it, and feel awake enough the next morning. I used Nyquil (not entirely a sleep aid but it works) and I slept well. It was so worth it!

Go ROCK STEP 1!!!

Wow thanks for the info!! One huge question...were there any audiovisual questions, and if so, what, like heart sounds or something? We got this memo that there would be less questions (48 instead of 50) and that there might be up to 5 "audiovisual" questions, which was going to be new. Is that true?
Sorry for totally deviating from the original engagement discussions! But I''m literally having heart palpitations trying to juggle the complete stress I feel with the anticipation of this impending proposal!! Eek!

No worries! I think sometimes the closer we get the more we obsess. I did have one audio question and only one. The head phones worked fine and you got as much time to listen to it as you wanted (provided the time for the question block did not expire!).

My friend told me she didn''t really need to listen to her audio clip to answer the question, but for me it was the reverse. I essentially didn''t need the text at all and just needed to listen to the clip to answer it.

Haha it''s easy to get anxious. I think I actually was so focused on step 1 that I didn''t even think about getting engaged unless he brought it up and then, mostly just to say: AFTER STEP 1, we can talk about this. I''m sure it can wait.

haha, gave him a little LIWitis just realizing he couldn''t bring it up with me. boys are so silly.
