Comments on the cut of these two Aaschers?

Hi,

My wife lost her ring so it’s an upgrade opportunity.

I have found these stones online, I would love comments on how they are cut. I have deliberately omitted the numbers to avoid biasing people because one might be a bit more “ideal” than the other; I have read (and seen) that the depth and table aren’t necessarily predictive of a stone’s light performance, and the stones are both well past any worries of being eye clean.

Two different vendors / videos were shot differently, sorry but it’s what I have to go on.

There is a price difference (and small size difference) which are somewhat relevant but I am primarily looking for input on the cut.

I uploaded the videos here they are pretty big sorry.

And

Thanks in advance - I have been lurking for a while and folks here are amazing / super helpful.

The links want you to download videos. Are there any other links you can provide to videos that dont require us to download?

I can try to post them somewhere - do you have a recommendation? When I put the diamonds on hold the listing comes down from the site.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I am going to go ahead with the less expensive of the two - I decided that the price difference is significant enough that if I have to ask I will save the money.

Comments still welcome for intellectual curiosity but don’t make me hate the one I went with :)

You'd need to put videos on a hosting site like YouTube or Imgur.

OK I made an Imgur account. If I post them on youtube my wife will see and it will spoil the semi-surprise :)

Both are here. Sorry the videos aren't the same size.

I am not a fan of either as they both have large tables and low crown heights, which in this case is leading to a bit of laziness in the light play on the facets under the table. You can see it is fuzziness from leakage in the first and over darkness/obstruction for the second. I don’t think either one is going to be as lively as they could be.

What size table do you tend to prefer (even if the right stats don’t guarantee good performance) - is there a threshold you would stay under?

I use my eyes to judge. So I’d just say smaller and taller than those! lol I don’t know what the standard is for asschers. I’m sure you can dig up many old threads on the topic that can provide some ranges. Sure there are exceptions to all rules, but while you are still learning to judge cut quality with your eyes, they are helpful.

What specs are you looking for? If you post an ideal budget, some prosumers might have recommendations for you.

Thanks - I would appreciate any pointers.

I am looking for something in the range of 3 carats, roughly +/- half a carat.

Here are 3 looked appealing to me, I would appreciate comments and suggestions.

I am a bit embarrassed to say that budget isn’t the primary constraint, but reserve the right to change my mind if you find something much more expensive than what I have been seeing in that size range! While budget isn’t the primary constraint I definitely don’t want to overpay relative to market.

Thanks in advance for any comments, and any shopping/suggestions.

FWIW I like the JA the best. Didn't care for any of the W Asschers.
Did you try Blue Nile?

I did but wasn’t excited by what I saw… but the now I think these look pretty good:

Any comments?

One more idea - not exactly square but I liked the video. Thoughts?

I like this one! Nice windmills and good height to the crown. Very white and clean. How do you plan on setting the stone you get?
