So my SO has finally got around to taking this engagement thing seriously. A few weeks ago he said we''ll be engaged in January or February and he''s already gotten in touch with a possible wedding venue and I know he''s called some jewellers and has been to some stores. Anyways, just before the weekend he was online looking at diamonds and styles and shows me a halo ring online and asks if I like the style. I''ve never really liked those rings but since he said they''re so "cool" I decided to give them a second chance. He wanted me to go try one on to see if I would like it better in person than in pictures. So I actually warmed up to the idea to the point that I decided I would be really happy with one!! Then he turns around yesterday and says "well I''m not really sure I can afford one in that style". Huh?? If he didn''t think that, then why bother to try to convince me how great they look when I wasn''t so crazy about them to begin with?
I point this out to him and he says to me mischeviously "well maybe I already bought one of them". But just Friday he was searching online vendors for prices so why would he be doing that if he already has a ring. I''m pretty sure he doesn''t have it (or at least I''m trying not to get my hopes up). But his ring fund cash disappeared a few days ago (I know where he was stashing it hehehe)
What do you make of this?

He is probably just trying to figure out what you like, and he really liked the halo, but maybe when he actually went to see them he saw they were unaffordable. Point is, he is actively looking, as will probably be proposing soon! Just relax and enjoy this exciting time in your life!!!

Congratulations! You are sooo close! I''d be a little annoyed too, but it doesn''t seem like he was trying to disappoint you. I bet it was hard for him to tell you that he couldn''t afford the halo. He prob didn''t know how much it cost when he was online.

As for the missing money and the "maybe I already bought it" I think that he was just trying to throw you off. He wants to surprise you. Best of luck!

Agreed. If the ring fund has disappeared already, then I think his actions trying to throw you off. Maybe he was viewing the rings online that day post-purchase just to comparison shop. I do the "Pricescope your diamond" at the top of the page all the time with my diamond-to-be, even thought is was paid for weeks ago and isn''t going to change.
