Title basically says it all. I've finally convinced DH having a 2.5 cttw would just be TDF and he's finally on board. I'd like to see if this is something anyone might be interested in as I don't know how to search this website and find out

I would post pictures and give stats such as color, clarity etc. Then post on LT or DB.

Good luck with your sale!

yea please create a DB / LT listing and link it here... i'd be interested...

I'm interested to see stats and link too please!

There might be many of us interested if the diamonds are GIA Excellent cut or AGS ideal cut. If they are not graded, you probably won't be able to sell them without sending them to GIA first.

List them, I'll bet they'll sell easily enough, even if uncertified. Since the price can range so drastically, it's hard to say how fast they'll sell but my uncert. 2 cts got snapped up so fast my head spun! Whereas some of the higher end studs are still for sale because the price is so high. IF you have some pretty earrings in a middle price range, you'll get a lot of interest, 2cts is a sweet spot.

Thanks for the responses. Wouldn't I need to get them unset to have GIA grade them?

Or send them to a reputable/PS recommended appraiser...

Im interested as well.. Any pictures?

these are sort of dirty pictures of the stones. Photos were taken on my desktop microscope at 50-75x magnification.

I absolutely wouldn't bother sending them to GIA to get certed- waist of time and money. Some ppl want the XXX GIA etc, others want old cuts, others want a bargain, etc. Just find an independent appraiser who will give you the stats on them. As far as pricing goes you are selling on the 2nd market so pricing should be below retail. Once you have states then you can see what others are selling similar for and I would go down to 70% of that for a sale. Or if you know how much you paid then take 25%-35% off what you paid retail. That is just my POV.

Yes, an appraisal from someone respected like Neil Beaty would work just as well for PS selling purposes. I personally think Excellent cut stones are going to sell at 20-30% off retail and lesser quality stones are going to be priced more like 50% off. But I think you have to have some credible assessment of them for people to be able to determine a reasonable value. And it is certainly true that their are buyers out there for everything if they are priced correctly!

 Thank you all for the help. My apologies I'm so uneducated. Neil Beaty would be the appraiser for the American Gem Registry in Denver? He would be able to appraise them in the setting?

again thank you so much!

Yes, that is the right person. I would call him to verify that, but I would feel certain he appraises jewelry often that is in settings.

And you have nothing to apologize for! You just have the best chance of selling them if buyers know what they are getting and if the pricing is fair. Most people list at a certain price and then some accept the best offer.

You can also use any appraiser that is in or near your city, just make sure they are independent of a jewelry store. Unless Neil is close to you I wouldn't bother necessarily going to him as it requires you to ship the earrings plus wait time. I would stay local. Use Yelp and other online sources for reviews etc.
PS has a list of appraisers by zipe code under resources if that helps.
Good luck!

Hi OP, I would use Neil as he is a nationally (internationally) recognized expert, here on PS and otherwise. More people would value his opinion and his reputation since you don't have certed stones.

+1

I also recommend Martin Fuller. He is also well known, and many of us know him on PS. He is in McLean, VA.
