Soo I wasn't really in the market for a yellow diamond, but yellow was my favorite color growing up and when I saw this I had a mini heart attack. I fell in love... but I wanted to make sure that it's a love that won't disappoint me in person, and who better to ask than you guys?

Stats:
Approximately 1ct
SI1
7.21 x 5.00 x 3.57 mm
$2000

It does have a GIA report, which lists it as fancy light yellow. These are pictures I took from the video, so sorry about the poor quality! Seller hasn't gotten back to my inquiry yet for me to ask for better pics.

I kind of like the darker yellow, but because it's graded fancy light yellow, I'm thinking it might look lighter in person compared to this kind of honey yellow color? As for the dimensions, it seems like it's a bit deep. Do you think that'll give it poor light return? Or does it add to the color?

Any help is appreciated!

Interesting. The GIA report states faint fluorescence, though of course no indication of what color exactly it's fluorescing. I'm just stumped on how it's such a good deal, especially since it's from someone who seems to be fairly reputable!

The seller responded and I said I'd take it. I just couldn't stop thinking about it. 8)

I didn't want to say it before because I didn't want someone else to buy it first because of the price, but the seller is Premier Gemstones. It looks like he routinely has good sales like this, and when I searched for him it looks like everyone had good experiences.

If it gets here and I hate it, there's a 14 day return policy which makes me feel better about getting it despite the potential red flags. I'll report back with pics once it gets here.

The diamond came yesterday! It's definitely hard to photograph and looks very different in different lighting. Here it is in sunlight:E9D53F4C-B050-4AF5-AC61-138B866DC037.jpeg

Aaand here it is in every other light:

So yeah, I can definitely see how it's graded as light yellow now!

I think it looks pretty decent for the price you got it for. Does it scratch that itch for you? If so, how do you plan on setting it?

Oh that looks so much better than the vendor photos! I was worried, but I love it.

Hi,

I too love it. The vendor photos don't do it justice. Price is very good. Do you liike the color? I have a .51 ctw fliy, and I like it.

I do like it, but I kind of wish the color was darker. I think I need to see it against a few settings to see how it'll pop.

I went to my jeweler yesterday and went through some catalogues. I like the nature-y looks as well as accent stones with it. She ordered a couple for me to look at when they come in.

I'm glad! The more I look at it on my hand, the more I like it... I think once I get over the original surprise of it being a very different color irl I'll end up loving it more too.

I think I like how it looks in the sun best. As I told another poster just now, I think I'll have to see it against some yellow gold settings that I like to really be able to say how much I like it.

Hum

Are there any apparent inclusions showing. The photos make the stone look clean. If you decide to return it, let us know, please, as I may want it for that price.

I can't see any inclusions, but I'm also not very observant. I got it out again today and had a good look at it and I think it's really growing on me.

Could you yellow cup it to get a little more color out of it?

Yes to the yellow gold! I've been thinking maybe claw prongs to bring the yellow in, but I'm not sure if it'll look weird since it's an oval. Anyone have thoughts on that?

My friend and I were looking at settings and we both really like the double prong look. It looks like animal paws and I think it's adorable, though I can understand if that's not everyone's thing.

Maybe something like this for the prongs?

Most likely sometime next week my jeweler will get back to me on the Stuller settings we looked at the other day for me to see them in person, too.

Here is what is meant by "yellow cup"? It would have to be a custom design and of course, would be more expensive:cry:.
Its used to help bring out more yellow color in a stone (when done in yellow gold). It is a cup under the diamond that reflects
yellow.

Hmm... to be honest, I'm just not into the look enough to get something like that custom designed.

Understandably...custom could end up costing more than the stone itself.

I've had this photo saved for years. It's a dreamy one for sure.

I've used it before to post as an example. I think its a beautiful way to do a yellow cup!

Totally left field, but I found a setting I like at my local jewelers.

There were a few other options, but I really liked this one best personally so this is what it'll be. I love the way the yellow gold looks with the diamond. It really does make the yellow pop! She's going to source the side diamonds for me. Said it'll probably be about $1000 total to get it set and ready to go, which I think is pretty good given the size of the pears.

Very cool!

WOW! Left field looks like the right field to me! Gorgeous!

Love the setting you found!

Omg you guys this ring is IMPOSSIBLE to take good pictures of! That being said, here's the finished product:AFAB6213-7B13-42D6-986A-E1B062CA59E5.jpeg
(I know my hands are disgustingly dry... I have to wash my hands probably 100 times per shift and it sadly shows.)

My only problem with it is the prongs... going from my favorite CVB ring, they feel massive! This setting was about $1000 cheaper so there's only so much I can complain, but I do kind of wish that I'd sent it off for a truly custom piece.

That aside, I do like the ring. I've been wearing it almost nonstop lol.

(Comparison between this new ring and my CVB padparadscha ring. Ignore the cat scratch lol.)

Anyway, that's what I have! It's gotten a lot of compliments, probably more than any of my other rings so far, and it's hard to look away from. I'll update this post if I manage to get a good sunlight picture too since the diamond looks so different indoors and outdoors.

Hi,

Congratulations. The ring looks beautiful. I'm so glad you like it. It doesn't surprise me that you are getting lots of compliments on it. Enjoy it!
