Considering upgrading my wife's 2.8 carat studs to 4.2 carat...visual impact?

I am considering utilizing the generous trade-in offer from one of the vendors here (a H&A quality diamond of course) to upgrade my wife's 2.8 carat earrings (1.4 each side) to something closer to 4.2 TCW. Color grade is 1 worse, but I am not worried about it. She has a 4.1 TCW 3-stone pendant from the same vendor in M color and it is barely indistinguishable from her J earrings (not to mention she likes warm diamonds).

How much of a visual upgrade will the new stones be? "Wow", "Significant", "nice to have", or "barely noticeable"?

We went to the local high-end jeweler and she tried on a set of 6 TCW studs in G color (cut unknown; definitely not quite H&A quality). They were definitely a "wow" size. But at $310k, I think we will pass.....I understand they have overhead but dang! I am pretty sure you could get something here from a vendor with a "as good as it gets cut" for 1/2 of the price.

I think there will definitely be a visual size difference, especially on the ear. Here’s a visual on a finger. The difference is about 30% more face up area.

Wow lucky girl I'm about to upgrade my. 2.40 to 3.00 and that to me is a visual upgrade.

Her 3-stone pendant from Brian Gavin is 1.7/1.1/1.1, all M color from the same diamond and you can't tell it is "warm" unless you are a diamond nerd or have it next to H/I. Even next to her K color stud you can barely tell a difference, and on her, in the light, it just looks like a really bright 3-stone pendant.

I got her a 7 TCW from IDJ. It was 6.25 and we got a great price (return from someone else and most people can't fit a 6.25"). I will post pics one of these days.

Thank you! They don't look much smaller than the 6 carats (3 in each ear) that were $155k each.

Ohhh, the bracelet sounds wonderful, and what a lucky find! Once the new studs come, post a thread in Show Me the Bling with the studs and bracelet!

IMO that's a great upgrade and a wonderful size! It depends on her earlobes of course but in any world 4.2 ctw is a great size for studs.
