So, I bought this spinel recently, from Gemrite...When I received it, it had more grey than I anticipated, at least in certain lighting, which, given the price, made me question whether or not I should keep it. However, every time I pulled it out in any kind of daylight, I just loved it. I hemmed and hawed, but just couldn't bring myself to send it back. I've been jonesing for a cushion cut, and I know spinels don't often come in large sizes, and clean to boot. In daylight, this stone takes on a greenish hue - almost like a Montana sapphire. It can be light blue, light greenish-blue, and pretty much straight medium grey...Lots of flash and sparkle. John has been one of the nicest vendors I have ever dealt with. Anyway, I picture it in a white gold or platinum split shank ring with pave...

First, the vendor pics...

...including compared to my greyest spinel, nicknamed "Silver".

Love it, especially the color shift. I would keep it.

Thanks, fel. Yes, keeping it is a done deal. :)

I love the cutting. I love that it doesn't seem to turn off in any of its personalities. It does all that color change and gives you lots of sparks and flashes too? Sounds like you got the best of both worlds. I love cushions and I love the size of that baby.

Dibs.

This is fabulous!!! Love love love! Add me to the line of people who want it, lol.

love the color, and the cut is just plain beautiful! :appl: I would have trouble sending this one back too.

It's gorgeous. What are the stats? Your other ring is beautiful too! :loopy:

It's my turn for dibs anyway

No fair! You get all the pretty stones :P

Wow, it is all my favorite colors in one. Love it! Really gorgeous. :appl:

The variable colors of it are great! Speaking of spinels...you should post a picture of your flame spinel ring too!

...silly me, I just saw the other thread on it-carry on!

Glad you got a nice shifter. You know it's a keeper when you don't have the heart to return it.

Look, NKOTB, buying things for yourself at Christmastime is not healthy at all. You need to GIVE at this time of year -- so here's my address & I'll be happy to be the givee, for your sake of course. :cheeky: Tongue hanging out.

My gosh, that's beautiful. Such personality, great cutting, color to die -- AND big. What are the specs on it? Do you have plans for it yet?

Thanks VL, Minou, katharath, Lori, sonyachance, missi, and xrisus!

Davi - I'd apologize, but you have some pretty cool ones, too! :wink2:

Chrono, normally I'm of the philosophy of "if in doubt, don't", so I really agonized over this one, but in the end, you are right.

JF and gemandjewelrylover - oops, can't believe I forgot the specs! 2.75 cts, 8.5 mm. I'd like either a split shank setting with pave, or maybe a halo. I'll probably end up waiting a while and seeing what comes up second hand. :)

Freke - HA!

Very cool stone!

Beautiful

I love it. Tons of personality. What a great little find!

I really like this one!

Absolutely stunning!!!
