and I bought it!! I have never seen a stone with rutiles that look like a flower. The stone is rose quartz and its 4.17 ct. I only have vendor pics as my camera didn't like riding on the outside suit case pocket (yeah don't really know why I did that  ) Anyway I know it isn't a stone that is worth much but it was just too interesting to pass up.

Now how should I set it?

Oh my gosh, that looks so pretty! I love pink and the rutile (sp?) makes it look so neat! I'm not sure how I would set it... likely in a ring so that I could admire it, maybe something whimsical or organic looking by Julia Kay Taylor or Heart of Water.

Would you mind sharing where you found this beauty?

That is awesome! So modernistic - a great way to start the new year :appl:

Very very cool stone.
Congratulations.

Really neat colors/pattern! I'd set it in a pendant or a ring...

Oh that is beautiful! Great patterning and a noticeable size. It's like Diane Von Furstenberg designed a stone. :D North/South solitaire is the way to go imo

I have no idea how to set it but WOW that's a cool stone!! :appl:

Very fun!

Very, very pretty, I don't blame you for snapping that up! I think it would make a wonderful pendant, and I like the Heart of Water suggestion.

That is cool. Sometimes inclusions make for a fascinating stone. Enjoy!

I'm not exactly sure how to set it but I would think it would look amazing in a high carat gold like 22k or 24k....  oh love love love!

You can play up the inclusions by having it custom set as a ring or pendant with flower petals radiating outwards, making it look like the stone is the center portion of the flower.

I bought this stone on gemselect.com....i haven't bought anything more expensive from there because I have not heard it mentioned on this site before (anybody know anything about this site?) I really like the idea of setting it as the center of a flower with the petals radiating outward. I am planning on giving this to my mother in law (future) at our rehearsal dinner. She really likes funky organic jewelry anybody have any suggestions for matching earrings?

I also really like the idea of using a high caret gold to set this in or maybe even rose gold....

Wow, that is very cool.

Wow I love that! What a find. Enjoy it :))

Hi I do not know whether it is faceted or not but two artisans could perhaps do something with it

If it is deep, this artisan has very interesting items made with deep stones

This one I like very much, she seems to love unusual designs, these links are just examples of her work, the stones are different from yours but I am sure she can do something that would show your stone to its fullest.

This stone is very different, but it also has beautiful inclusions in it, and if she made it into a ring without heavily bezeling it, letting the light shine through, I think she could do something similar for your stone. The trick is to make something interesting but also not bezel it heavily so that the light goes through the stones. Most artisans I keep on my favorite list make great bezels. I think Chris can make something different, though. She made my citrine ring and it looks great and is very, very comfortable.
