Trying to get an approximate budget that is reasonable to spend on a honeymoon. It seems as if everyone know about the "2 months salary" guideline for an e-ring but there isn''t much out there on a good amount to spend on a honeymoon. I know there''s lots of variables, but I''m curious what everyone spend on the engagement ring vs. what they spent on a honeymoon. Is a 1:1 ratio about right or is that way off?

Example: E-Ring cost = $5,000
Honeymoon = $5,000

Thanks for the help!

We spent $800 on my e-ring and $3000 on our honeymoon...for our 10-year anniversary we upgraded my wedding set and taking a "2nd honeymoon." We''re now looking about $8000 for the new w-set and $9000 for the trip.

I think it just depends on your financial capabilities and your priorities. I''ve never heard of a "guideline" for proportional e-ring/honeymoon..

My husband and I are not into travelling at all, we like to put our money in material things, thus being said, we spent $6000 on my ring, and $1000 on a 2-day getaway honeymoon 1.5 hours south of us in San Diego!

It all depends on where you decide to go, how long you plan on staying, how nice of a hotel you want, what activities you plan on doing once you get there. The honeymoon could be anywhere from $1000 to $15,000.

We probably spent $6,000 on our honeymoon to St. Thomas for six nights.

I just spent $1825 on a diamond and $4500 on an ering setting and matching band. My GF got us a pair of matching 995 platinum wedding bands (costs ??). In addition, there were/are 2 3-day trips to Oregon to order the rings and later to pick them up. We don''t actually have a budget in mind, but our weddingmoon will definitively be greater than all we have spent so far since we''re going to Hawaii for a month. As least my parents don''t have to pay for a huge wedding.

I would put more money into the ering if possible. Not to discount the honeymoon but it is such a short time period and the ring she will be wearing 24/7. Plus the memories you are creating on your honeymoon are mostly between the two of you

and you can still go to some beautiful places without breaking the bank, if you so choose.

I would look into an all inclusive which can really let you enjoy yourself without worrying about spending extra $. We went on a cruise on our honeymoon and I remember always feeling guilty about having extra drinks because they were so expensive!!!

My husband paid about $6000 for my ring.

We honeymooned in Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore -- a total of two weeks in five-star hotels. The honeymoon was much more expensive than the ring but I wouldn''t have changed our incredible vacation for the world.

my engagement ring cost about $3000 and our honeymoon cost around $10,000...then again, we skipped having a wedding so we had more money to spend on the honeymoon...

It depends on your preferences....

Rings were 3x as much as the honeymoon. We went to Tahiti for a week. It was fabulous.

Ring is going to cost about 9 times what the honeymoon will. We''re going on a cruise. Ring and wedding costs so much, why not find a cheap honeymoon? I like cruises cuz you get luxury at bargain prices with little to know planning needed (wedding is enough planning).

Ring was almost twice as much as the honeymoon but it really depends. We went to Brazil for 2 weeks, it was fantastic and it''s really inexpensive there.

We did everything so out of typical order that maybe our answer doesn't count.

First 'honeymoon'(wedding weekend) was in Sausalito and our second official honeymoon was in Marakkech, Morocco 6 months after the wedding. We also chose the diamond e-ring about 3 mos. after the wedding when I could think clearly.

The ring was nearly 3x the cost of the honeymoons.

ed: I would definitely spend more on the ring. The trips are wonderful but so fleeting(memories, photos, souvenirs/gifts). The ring is an everyday fixture and for some a symbol.

Doing the best you can in the ring choice will hopefully avoid repeated upgrades and changes in the future. Best of luck!
