Cost to gold plate earrings?

Hi,

I purchased a cute pair of fashion earrings for $10 at Nord. rack. I love them, but exclusively wear gold & platinum because my ears are sensitive. Since I like these earrings, I''m thinking of getting them plated with 14K gold. Basically the style is a thin disc hanging from a hook. The disc is slightly smaller than a quarter and has a small cut out in the inner part of it.

Anyone have an idea of how much it would cost to plate earrings like that? I can post photos if necessary.

Hi MC,

Gold plating your earrings shouldn''t be very expensive. My guess is around $50.00 more or less.

Call your favorite local jeweler for a price quote. If they don''t do it "in house" their

trade shop will do it. Hope this helps.

Do you want just the hook part plated? That might cut down the cost a bit rather than having the entire earring plated x 2. Gold''s cheaper than rhodium obviously, so it shouldn''t be a huge expense, I think Jeff is spot on with his estimate.
