my best friend got her ER there, and its LOVELY. she has yet to complain about it. She had the original wedding band from there as well, but didnt care for it as much, so she had it custom made.
I think they are guaranteed to be at least I color and VS2 clarity. I believe that they are certified through IGI which isn''t the most recognized laboratory (meaning if sent to GIA the grading might not come out the same).
I will say I have never seen an ugly diamond in Costco (seen many in maul stores though).
I have a diamond band from there which is beautiful and was much less expensive than comparable bands in B&Ms and even online.
FSIL''s e-ring dimond is from Costco (setting is from elsewhere)...the diamond is stunning...It''s eye clean for sure...I had to really try to see anything through a loupe...and I have eyes like a hawk when it comes to inclusions. It seems to have a great cut too...although I''ve never seen the cert...I would say she got a great quality diamond there.
I have several pieces of jewerly from BJ''s (which is similar to Costco) - they state that everything will appraise for at least 150% of your purchase price and I''ve never been disappointed by that. Most of the items I have purchased at the wholesale club are my everyday casual pieces and let me tell you, I put them through beatings daily and every piece has held up for YEARS.
My sister got a wedding set from Costco for her anniversary, it''s very pretty! Only problem is that they usually carry size 7 and some styles don''t allow for much resizing, some maybe only +/- 1 size. She had to go down 2 sizes, so it created a bit of a problem for her.
IMO...Costco prices are fair for what they represent. their 1ct IGI I VS2 rb with a 6 prong plat setting sells for $5200,but don't forget to read the fine prints, which states...that their 1ct stone can weight < 1ct.
I think as a whole Costco''s jewelry FAR outweighs maul stores. But some stones are better than others. So if you do your due diligence you can get a beautiful ring there. But you can also get so-so quality rings there so one has to be careful.
Costco can even get GIA stones for you if you talk to one of their jewelry reps.
Thank you all for the comments... I''ll have to wait til next week to let my BF know, as I''ve promised him no wedding/proposal talk for at least a week (on Wednesday).
The ring was a .75 round with an eternity style band... simple and very elegant.
