Courthouse today...

FI and I had to get officially married at the courthouse today for job and gov't reasons. We're going to still call eachother our FI's until our "wedding" in May, but I guess I'm officially married!

On one hand, the courthouse wedding was the most anti-climactic event, so I'm glad we're having a traditional wedding in May. We sat around with a 16-year old couple while the judge was at his 2:30 "lunch", then heard the toilet flush, and he said, "Oh, come on in. I have to get back to the desk right now, so we'll do this quickly." Oh geez, dude. Could it be LESS romantic!?

On the other hand, it's all feeling a lot more real to me now!! Just wanted to share!

I may end up having to have a courthouse wedding as well. Turns out, the law in Jamaica states that you have to have your father''s name on your birth certificate....which my "dads" name isn''t on there. But we''re just going to see how it goes. Did you have to call ahead first or anything? I''m not exactly sure how that works. lol.

Congrats! I got married at the courthouse in November. Didn''t even write about it on here because I figured..why?...how boring...and it really was. I''ve been married before, did the big church thing and didn''t want within 100 miles of planning all that again--even though I am TOTALLY gung-ho for anyone who wants to...I mean, I wanted to the first time and it was exactly what I wanted but whew!...it was exhausting. I even had a friend who wanted to plan it for me but just the thought of even making out an invitation list made me feel a little sick on my stomach....I just wanted to marry my sweet man without all the hullabaloo. Anyway, I was excited to see that others have gone, or plan to go to the courthouse, too. Congrats, again, and enjoy your wedding in May!!
