interesting article from yahoo...

Dust to Dust Diamond

would you create one? the whole idea sort of creeps me out a bit...

Saw a story on one of the news channels here in Australia. An aussie lady lost her teenage son suddenly and tragically. They sent a portion of his ashes to the USA to be made into a diamond and the rest? Can''t remember but think he was interred somewhere.

Anyway, at first I was creeped out but then I listened to what she had to say. Basically, she didn''t think someone so young and vibrant should be associated with a cemetary so decided on the stone instead.

Not sure if I would do it but I can understand why this particular lady did.

And lets not forget that back in Victorian times, rings and other jewellery made from the hair of a deceased loved one was common practice. Personally, I think diamonds are alot more hygienic!

If you do a search there has been a couple other threads on this subject. I think it is kind of wierd but I guess helps people get over their loss. They are VERY expensive though. And only in blue and yellow.

~~That is kind of creepy... I mean, it''s just really different. I saw a news story on this a little while ago...

I remember that from the last thread...plus it just seems like an odd idea. Putting your dead child into the ultra sonic for cleaning...

I have actually told my daughter to use some of my life insurance money to have me made into a diamond when I go. I think it''s a perfectly fitting way for her to remember me since I like diamonds soo much.

sorry for the repost... i did a search, but i didn''t find anything on "creamated diamond"... guess i should have searched a little harder. :-)

when you say VERY expensive, what''s the price range?

it does seem a little creepy at first, but if you think about it a little, it makes sense that you want to keep your loved ones close when they pass.

I remember reading about this the last time someone made a thread on this subject. It was SO expensive! Here''s a link to LifeGem''s prices: LifeGem Prices

Do a search on LifeGem. I repeat posts all the time. No worries. I just figured you would want to see what they say
