Crown 36 PA 40.6 Table 58 Star 45 (GIA) - could it work?

I'm looking at this MRB that has a 36 deg crown with a complementary 40.6 PA.
Table is on the larger side at 58 but Star is 45 (I read that star needs to be <50 for these angles to work with a larger table like this 58 one?).
GIA numbers rounded numbers. Could this diamond still be good though?

The other potential issue is fluorescence, although I normally like the blue glow, I'm concerned about potential hazy/milky appearance since it is in the colorless range.

Vendor couldn't confirm if hazy/milky when I asked via their chat and no idealscope, ASET or H&A images available.

After mentioning all this, you might wonder why I don't just look for another diamond instead of this borderline ideal?

Usually I would just move on and look for a different one in a safer range but there is something interesting about this diamond and I think it would be awesome if I can use it. The certification date matches my mother's birthday and carat weight is the year. I really hope I can use it to make a pendant for her 70th birthday.

Could you please take a look and give me your opinion? Is it worth pursuing?

I wish I was experienced enough to work it out just based the photo, video and figures but I unfortunately I'm not.
So I'm hoping some of you experts could weigh in and take a look for me.

OMG this could be your very lucky day! @lovedogs just posted a stone in very similar specs to this one. @MissGotRocks called my attention to it. Your mom could own a CBI for the same money you'd be spending on a "maybe" okay stone.

To answer your initial question: I also find myself drawn to the look of the diamond in question, but I would feel better if the PA was 40.2 or 40.4 with such a steep CA based on my own research and desire for safety. However, I'm no expert so I've cut and copied a quote from @Garry H (Cut Nut) from an old thread about finding and FIC diamond which I had bookmarked.

"FIC Firey Ideal Cut Crown angle should be more than 35.5°
A small table also helps.

But the stone must still have <2.0 HCA score which means the stone MUST have a shallow pavilio - near 40 degrees - no more than 40.6.

it will apear to have twice as many facets as an old cut (even though there are the same #)"

That WolfCBI is amazing!

If you'd rather stick with JA...
Found some potential alternative options. You'll have to ask for the reports, but they appear nice and bright. All have strong flourescence, so same approach for further scrutinizing applies.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention! I'm actually asking for some quotes from WolfCBI for some pendant earrings projects. So this could work well! I might ask if WolfCBI would set it for me if @lovedogs would sell to me, then send to WolfCBI instead of to me (might be easier than international shipping to Australia). So it could actually work out really well!

Though I'm also interested in this stone too because it matches mom's bday. Seems extra special.

I think it breaks rules for me to comment about something I have for sale in any forum outside of "preloved", but happy to chat about this on my "preloved" post if you're interested @Diamond_Enthusiast

No concern in regards to leakage, light return, contrast, girdle treatment, and proportions. It is a good 36/40.6

Just make sure it is not milky or cloudy when you get it.
yep
To answer the question yes the 45% stars and resulting less steep uppers help pull this stone to the safe side.

Thanks for looking at this diamond for me and giving me your thoughts! :) This old thread you mentioned sounds interesting, I'd be keen to read it and learn more, especially since it is worthy of you bookmarking it!

Thanks for thinking the time to review and comment on all these aspects for me! They are all important factors and I'm so glad to know it all checks out!

Ok, I'll look out for any milky/cloudiness.

Thanks for these alternatives. I've contacted lovedogs about the WolfCBI diamond already as I think I can use it for either mom's pendant or existing projects I'm looking at with WolfCBI.

Thanks for taking the time to look at and comment on this diamond/stats for me. It is definitely reassuring to know that 45% stars helps to pull this diamond to the safe side!

That's a nice stone. It's got some slight asymmetry, but nothing that is glaringly ugly. Price is really solid for the stats. It'll be a good buy for someone

Thanks for reviewing this diamond for me! I find this stone attractive and lively looking. Price is good too probably also because it has strong fluor which I like so long as not hazy. Haha without sounding too corny, I feel like this stone is kinda meant to be when I saw how the stone's stats matched mom's bday!

Sounds like it might be meant to be :)

Quick update - I've ordered it!
Fingers crossed it'll have a beautiful blue glow and not be hazy.

Great, can't wait to hear your impressions. Please post photos and video when you get it. It will be very educational for some of us to see what those numbers look like in real life!
