Dear folks,

I just found a diamond which - based on the 360° video - and specs appears very good to me. Especially since price is quiet attractive. I have already reserved this stone; when I just found out that the "crown angle" is a bit "shallow".

The stats are as follows:

UND BRILLIANT
Measurements5.90 - 5.92 x 3.61 mm
Carat Weight0.77 carat
Color GradeJ
Clarity GradeVVS1
Cut GradeExcellent
PROPORTIONS
Depth61.1 %
Table55 %
Crown Angle33.0°
Crown Height14.5%
Pavilion Angle40.8°
Pavilion Depth43.0%
Star Length50%
Lower Half80%
GirdleMedium to Slightly Thick, Faceted, 3.5%
CuletNone

(no Idealscope).

One question: Should I ditch the stone solely because of the "shallow" crown angle, or are the proportions good enough. What do you think of the stone?

Thank you very much guys :-)!!

Do you know what the HCA score is?

thank u! yes it was below 1, probably 0.8 I remember. But as I read here this is not a selection tool.

HCA was 0.6.

33 and 55 table has the same crown height as a 57table and just under 35ca. So ca is ok, its steep enough for good scintillation.
So in other words it is a little different but it works.

While 34-35 is recommended for CA, I personally allow 33-36.5, depending on PA and TB.

Suppose you have a 40 ¾° pavillion angle, 32 ¾° crown angle, 55 ½ % table, and a 2 % girdle (measured at the thin parts). That combination corresponds to your total depth percentage, and is within rounding error of your report's measurements. The crown angle and table ratio are well matched to that pavillion angle and girdle thickness:

you cant look at crown angel alone but have to look at BOTH crown angel and pavilion angel at least.

If you are short sighted it can look a little dark on very close inspection.
And low colour hi clarity is not what I would choose, but you da boss!shallow girl gif.gif

The dimensions sound nic, but I’m not an expert. Is there a return policy? I’m a firm believer in seeing it in person. I’d have a really hard time buying a diamond online without seeing it in person if I couldn’t return it. Good luck. Keep us informed on your decision ☺️
