I am looking at an emerald cut stone that has a very small cutlet and a faint fluorescence. How do these affect the look of the stone? Is it better to avoid cutlet and fluorescence or not always?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Chicagogirl! I am not very good with emerald cuts, so I will defer to others who are more educated about the culet. I can comment on the fluoro and would not worry about faint fluoro, it likely won''t even be really visible to you. There are some fantastic threads on here with people who have more than faint fluoro and the rings are gorgeous. The fluoro can add a bit of brightness/whiteness to a stone (esp in a lower colored stone), although faint fluoro likely won''t really add much. Strong fluoro is where you need to be more concerned, as sometimes (not always), they can appear milky or cloudy in uv light. This does not occur very often. Some (including the professionals on this forum) actually specifically seek out stones with fluoro b/c of the oumph it can give to a stone.

dude is not a sexist term... be wary of anyone employing use of the word "dudette". They''re posers. hehehe ;)

LOL, I use dude all the time too!

Cehra, why does your laptop hate you?

*why*? I have no idea - I cannot read the ghost in the machine''s motives.... however *how*? hehe ;) I type pretty fast and it seems to skip a lot of my letters leaving no spaces or just no letters in its wake. My and my husband''s keyboards are ergo ones and whenever I type on my laptop (which I have been lately) I make a TON of typos and I am way too lazy to fix them all.... and of course right *now* it seems to be doing a good job of not skipping letters.... I swear when it acts up it looks like I''m typing drunk LOL and I swear I''m hitting the keys.... I guess just not hard enough @@ I''m lay-zee what can I say? LOL

I wouldn''t worry about faint. It''s negligable. Even for those who love and want fluoro negliable is doesn''t add any hints.
