please help me with the "girdle" of a diamond. What should we stay away from? What are the downfalls to a diamond with a too thick or thin girdle?

My husband is looking to buy me a solitaire pendant for our 1 yr anniversary and I am researching diamonds in the .60 carat range either cushion cut or radiant cut. What should I look for in these cuts? Also, do cushions show flaws more?

what is the definition of a feather and a pinpoint inclusion?

I''d stay away from a very thin girdle because there is a slightly greater chance of chipping. However, this is still a small chance and more of a problem with stones that have pointy corners such as princess stones. Thin, medium, and slightly thick girdles are fine. I''d stay away from a thick or extremely thick girdle because it will make the stone face up smaller than its carat weight.
