For sale is a classic custom designer Vatche double prong cathedral setting in platinum that previously held an August Vintage Cushion. It features delicate tapered double prongs. The band tapers slightly toward center stone.

Setting has been polished and looks like new! Currently a size is 7.

Previously held a 1.29 AVC measuring 6.59 x 6.35 x 4.25

Additional Photos (GOG) show setting with center stone (not included in sale).

Price is $700, shipping and insurance additional.

could this hold a 7.18×7.17×4.93 mm asscher?

Where would you have it set? I would ask that jeweler specifically. Perhaps someone here who has had a stone reset could offer an opinion.

Can anyone who has set a stone in a preloved setting give advice on how to know if it will fit??

@AVC4Me you could ask your jeweler what the size tolerance/range is for the setting. They would best be able to advise.

Going off other empty settings I've bought & reset and what jewelers have told me (which of course depends on the setting), I wouldn't think anything more than a .2mm difference max would work unless the head were replaced. Others may opine differently.

Call Jon and ask him what size and shape stones it will hold.

I checked into this and here's what the diamond setter at GOG has to say:

"For cushion shape diamonds, the same dimensions as the AVC that was in there (6.5x6.35mm) would be the max.
For round shape diamonds you have a range of 6.75mm to 7.1mm.
Depending on the diamond going in to the setting, the prongs may need some reinforcing, which would be in the $100 range. This may or may not be the case. It all depends on the diamond. And we can make the prongs look the same as previously."

For anyone interested in this setting, it's a place to start. I'd still recommend confirming this with whoever is going to set your stone.

Let me know if anyone has more questions!

thanks so much! I am going to go in a different direction but hope you find the right buyer soon.
