Hey guys! I'm in the process of making a custom ruby ring for myself (it's my birthstone and I've wanted a ruby ring for the longest time). I'm currently looking at either a 9x7 or 10x8 oval Chatham ruby in a white gold setting with 1/2 ct diamond halo.

1. What is your experience with Chatham? What color do they usually run?
2. I have a size 6 finger, would the 9x7 or 10x8 be better? I want it to be substantial but not look like costume jewelry.
3. Should I go with white or yellow gold? I normally wear white, but the yellow is so pretty against the ruby.

Any pictures of your ruby rings would be appreciated as well! Thank you!

1. The few that I've seen in person has excellent colouration.
2. Size is personal. Some might find it too big/small but I love big stones. I think 10 x 8 is smashing!
3. I love ruby in yellow gold but if you wear a lot of white, stay with white. A beautifully coloured CS will look great in all metal colours.

You could do yellow prongs or yellow bezel and use white gold for the rest of the ring.

Thank you so much for your help! Have the cuts been good on the Chathams you've seen?
