I had an opportunity to see this stone up close in natural lighting. It seems very sparkly and I am ok with it being a shallower diamond. My question is are the proportions worrisome from a structural standpoint?

I'm not sure what you mean structurally but performance wise I wouldn't have high hopes. I'm afraid when you get it away from jewelry store lighting you'll be disappointed. That huge table and what looks to be a shallow crown is going to exhibit obstruction problems. Also, I would stick with a GIA or AGS certified stone.

I checked the AGS cut ratings for this diamond using their 10mm charts, and they only go up to 43° for the pavilion angle, so I would postulate that it would be classified as somewhere in the AGS 7 or 8 range, which is only a "Fair" to "Poor" cut quality grade. There may be some gross rounding involved and, since I wasn't able to find what the CGL buffer/allowance is for that, it may even be given a worse cut grade. Echoing what mwilliamanderson said: I wouldn't have high hopes for performance, as there is likely a ton of light leakage. If the seller is able to get you IdealScope and ASET images, then please do so before committing your wallet to this diamond.

My advice: keep looking, and try to find a diamond that falls within the "Member Recommended" (section #2) proportions.

Since you are asking on Pricescope, where light performance is highly valued, I think you know that people here aren’t going to advise you to buy this diamond.

I used to have a shallow diamond (though it didn’t have a table as big as this one), and I loved the white light that came from it in overcast natural light, but if it wasn’t head on, I resented the view more and more. I reset it 5 times, trying to love it. I have a different diamond now, and I wish I had known before getting the first one what I learned after.

@Tubbsmalone
I see you have asked about this specific stone before and were met similar feedback. If you really like the stone, perhaps you should buy it. Especially if there is a great return policy. You may end up being very happy with it. The price is certainly good for the carat weight.

However, we are trying help avoid a disappointing purchase because many of us have made them. The diamond has, what is known around here as, the ring of death. You can see it in the video you provided and I was able to find a still photo of the diamond as well.

I looked up some 4 ct stones in the VS2 range and found these. Clearly there is a vast price difference, so I understand the appeal of the one you're looking at. Ultimately, only you know yourself well enough to know if it would make you happy. Good luck with your decision.

I really don't like this stone, and think it has performance issues. There are a variety of alternatives that would be significantly better in terms of sparkle/fire.

Have you considered going with a real diamond that's grown by humans instead of the earth?
We can recommend some great options around the 4 carat mark that easily fall within super ideal cut proportions that fit your budget.

If you want to consider this avenue to get maximum diamond performance for the size you want at the price you want to pay, then start a thread and we can post recommendations...at least it will give you a great basis of comparison, if nothing else.

Thanks for the feedback. I had a beautiful round brilliant GIA H SI2 that was 60% depth and it sparkled like crazy. This one is 59.3% so that doesn’t scare me off but I never considered how the table plays into it. I’ve been sent a close up videos of it on hand and against a white pice of paper from all angles. I don’t see the fish eye in the videos that I do in the still image. They have a great return policy and have been very responsive so I’m not worried about getting scammed. I appreciate the feedback! I am going to consider the drawbacks and go from there!

IdealScope and ASET images: can't go wrong with asking for them!

Some more thoughts to add:
The primary concerns with this diamond aren't just about the depth and/or the table width.
It's the crown angle, the pavilion angle, the out of round, and a questionable grading lab that may have criteria that stray far from GIA's gold standard for things like color, clarity, symmetry, etc.

Sending this to GIA, AGS, GCAL, or IGI would be an eye opener, for certain.
