was reading this great article which gave me another side to look at before purchase my diamond and wanted to know your opinion for it, what is more important when considering the diamond price, Cut, Quality or Size?

I read that article briefly (hello fellow Aussie!) and while true that MRB are the most expensive, the other fancy shapes may not face up as big.

I love an asscher cut but a 1ct asscher is no where near as big face up as a 1ct MRB.

I guess it is all dependent on the person is buying the diamond. For example:

Quality: I cannot see inclusions that others would find a deal breaker, I am not very colour sensitive either and actually prefer warmer diamonds LOL.

Cut: I prefer antique cuts so the rules don't really apply either. If it was a modern cut then it would be a different story - ideally you would be paying for a well performing diamond regardless because it is a lot of money to invest especially if you are not getting the sparkles.

Size: Probably the easiest factor here - whatever your budget allows while staying within the cut and quality. I think it is a fine balance between getting the biggest bang for your buck without compromising the cut and quality.

Cut should be the first consideration since the point of diamonds is to sparkle and a poorly cut diamond won't do that. The rest would be subjective based on the purchaser's priorities - for me, shape is the next consideration then size as what I can afford is a balance between availability, colour and clarity for my budget.

When I am considering I value cut highest and quality next. To be fair, cut is higher when I am looking for a ring. In earrings or say a pendant, I may give more leeway in cut and focus on quality. But those 2 top my list
