Anyone think the cut is good enough to be set in a ring? Added a couple of pictures in different lighting. Or should i just opt for an eternity band0A97A38F-FF88-4752-A28B-B593E33CB8F4.jpegB64595B1-CDBC-4703-B52C-E76193176E36.jpegBE0BB9B4-5C56-49F3-98A4-68144505EE44.jpeg2AC80221-38EF-4069-A7CD-D033C1CD6374.jpeg08AED6C4-8994-4470-B0FE-FF230AF5C49A.jpeg

Not sure why that one picture iploaded so many times

Are you able to edit your post and remove the duplicates? It is kinda hard to scroll down to the bottom lol

As for your stone, it's really hard to tell from just photos. Does it come with a certificate and other reports? It's a great size but I'd happily go smaller for a better cut that has fire (my personal preference). I'm not sure if your stone throws a lot of fire or has brilliance. If it's not a great cut and you're looking at upgrading, it would be pretty impressive as a pendant.

I think we really won't be able to tell unless you upload a video it's performance in a few settings.

I tried. I couldn’t. It didn’t even show they were duplicated until after it posted

Looks like a preset lightbox pendant, so I don't think it came with a certificate (I may be wrong). But I can just tell from the still shots next to the princess cut that it is not a well cut round. A well cut round would blow the princess cut away with its brilliance and fire, instead the mrb looks kinda dull and cloudy....I say return it, and don't set it at all.

Wrong. Those photos appear to be in direct sunlight which should never be used.
The princess will always appear better. The worse the cut the better the performance in sunlight.

Oh whew. I finally made it to the bottom but forgot what your question was :???:. I think it looks fine? It looks sparkly enough to me. But maybe more photos, closer and away from direct sunlight? And maybe start a new thread if you can't get rid of the duplicates :D

Thanks for correction @Garry H, but can you give OP your opinion of the pictures of this diamond when not under direct sunlight?

I own mostly round diamonds now, in super ideal , ideal and 3-Ex. They sparkle like crazy in most light conditions. so I'm just sharing my opinion to OP that it should not be hard to capture brilliance and fire in a well cut mrb, and I honestly am not blown away by this particular lightbox mrb. I would return it. I have purchased 3 lightbox round pendants, and I personally know that they vary significantly in color and cut.

I worked out a way to do this in 1985. I could never rely on the lighting in every diamond dealers office so took my Ideal-Scope with me or gave them to suppliers and trained them.
I am not going to judge a photo like that and give an opinion.
A bit like a Dr diagnosing you with cancer at a party.

Thank you all. I returned. Have you been able to get a nice round from lightbox?

@Alexmv1, I documented my experience with Lightbox diamonds in the thread below:

Mixing mined diamonds and MMD

and the answer is yes, out of the 3 pendants I bought, 1 (left) pictured below had crisp arrows and most colorless body color, whereas the other 2 I felt where more similar in color but differed in size. Since I was trying to get a matching pair for side-stones on a ring, I eventually gave up and returned all 3. They were all very good cuts in my non-expert opinion, but I was very picky due to having to see them on my finger.

I KNOW you can get a really nice 2ct Lightbox that meets YOUR "ring-worthy" criteria, that is why I sounded so negative above (apologies), a beautifully cut lightbox is out there, just didn't want you to settle, because even at that price point, a significant part of a ring you will see every time you look down at your finger, and I want you to find a diamond you're thrilled with!

As diamonds return available light the varying distances of the camera affect how light or dark the diamond looks in different images taken from different distances. The last image is potentially taken from a distance which many consider a "normal" viewing distance of around 25 cm, if I may borrow from Whiteflash's definition of viewing distance when describing what eye-clean diamonds are: No inclusions visible to the naked eye of a person with 20/20 vision when viewing the diamond in the face-up position at a distance of approximately 10 inches under normal overhead lighting.
All that to say, from a normal viewing distance it appears quite striking and is potentially an excellent to ideal cut, but this can only be confirmed with additional information.
