Cute favor or too promish?

I think that could be nice, a nice momento for guests to have later...just depends on how many you need and how pricey they get, since you want them to be nice...

lol-- I don''t know of any highschools who would allow their prom favors to be alcohol related, so I don''t think you have to worry about it being prom-ish.

I think it''s cute! At least guests can use them later.

The way I would look at favors is: if it''s something you would like to receive yourself as a guest at a wedding, then your guests will probably enjoy it as well.

They''d be about 1.50 each for the amount I''m ordering...I''ll have to order a sample if I decide to possibly use these...I wonder if I could get them to the venue ahead of time so that they could make sure they''re clean and make sure the toast is set up with them when we get there

haha, we actually had them as favors for a prom that I went to, but then the school decided that using anything with an alcoholic innuendo was bad, so after that it was frames.

I like the etched look, not the black!

Yeah, I was thinking of doing the etch''ed looking paint or gold paint, but I''m emailing them to ask if I can order samples, rather than 12

Definitely not promish, but I''m not diggin the black lettering. I agree that etched would look great. I would suggest keeping it simple with pretty cursive initials, but maybe not your whole name.

Personalized champagne glasses were the favors at the last wedding I went to... I think it''s nice and probably more likely to get used than just about any other favor! Although I accidentally forgot and left them on the table last time... oops! I guess if your guests forget theirs, you can collect them all and have a whole matched set of champagne glasses from your wedding...

Maybe it''s just me, but I wouldn''t really want to have champagne glasses with somebody else''s name on them... Yep, we had them at prom, but I wouldn''t keep it in my house now, and something that fragile could be a pain to pack for out-of-towners.

The example shown, with the clip art picture and the names and date looks a little prom-like to me (maybe because I have several of them in my closet at my parents house).

If you did the etched look, with no picture and maybe just monogram initials or something, I think it would be cute. You'd just have to make sure people know that they can take them home after they toast with them.

ETA: I'm with Sumbride-I'm not sure I'd use them, but I haven't really gotten any wedding favors that I've actually used (other than edible ones), I'm not really a memento kind of person.

Honestly, I would not use glasses with some other couple''s names on them either. Glasses that said "Sara and Tom''s Wedding Oct. 1 2006" would look dated and I would probably not use them after the wedding. Of course, for the couple getting married they are very nice.

Sorry, I think it is promish. I also do not like favors with the couples name/date on it. I am just not a momento type of girl (even my own). I would not use it/take it.

What about doing something that doesn''t incoporate names or dates. Maybe just having two hearts etched on the glasses? That way it still has the romatic feel that I think you are going for without looking dated or overly personal?

Same here. If you really want to use them, Sparkel''s idea could work.

We had these at my prom as well as a beer mug...so I personally wouldn''t go for it.

Not promish...but screams sorority or fraternity formal to me (you don''t know how many of those I had!!) Not my taste therefore, but if you go for it, get the etched for sure.

I agree--I wouldn''t be interested in glasses with someone else''s name on them. That doesn''t mean it''s a bad idea, though . . . I mean, most favors aren''t something that people are actually excited about keeping, are they?

I think most people won''t be interested, I couldn''t see anyone bypassing the champange flutes they probably already have to use your personalized ones when celebrating or entertaining with champagne at home. But if you are on a budget, for a $1.50 each you could fill them with candy in your colors or something and have them look pretty on the tables.

yeah, we''re not really on a favor budge, just under $500 total...maybe I''ll stick with chocolates or something that people can eat...at least I''ve got plenty of time to think about it!

That is what we did sweetpea. We had chocolate cupids. I found these small black bags and used white sealing wax with a "M" stamp (last name starts with M). I personally only like favors I can eat/drink.

We ended up buying lottery tickets as favors. Everybody got a scratch ticket and a ticket for the Megabucks game that was being drawn that night. So $2/person plus whatever it was for the envelopes and laser printed note thanking people for coming.

That''s really fun! I don''t think it would go with the atmosphere of every wedding, but it''s such a great idea!

Heh, yes I don''t think they''d go with a very formal, black tie affair. But, what with the lottery tickets as favors, sinking putts to get us to kiss and the impromtu limerick contest, our reception was a rather laid back affair. :)

Our reasons for the lottery tickets were that 90% of our guests were traveling and we didn''t want to give them anything that they would have to schlep on a plane. Plus we wanted to give them a chance to defray a bit of the cost of coming to the wedding. Unfortunately, no one won the jackpot but there were a number of smaller winners.

Yeah, my original idea was these cute chocolate penguins, so I may go with those...they''re pricier but still fit in the budget I set (they make mice too for .50 cheaper, but I dont know that mouse fits in with wedding):

These are the mice they make, for reference

etched glasses...no
chocolates...YES

We put lottery tickets in our OOT bags. They were a hit. My mom bought a holder off oriental trading company that made them look more weddingish.

I don''t like either chocolates. Sorry. Is there another company or a local vender you can go with? We went with a local company who is friends with my dad. The chocolates were about $1 a piece. The bags were from Michaels so they were pretty cheap. They were kind of a pain to do. A ribbon would be easier. I burnt my finger a few times. If you don''t have a theme I would do something love related (ie: doves, hearts, bells, cupid...) or if you can find letters, that would be cool.

Sweetpea, I think those mice are darn cute. I remember seeing them in brides magazine, too. I also think the penguin is very cute!!

Are the mice/penguins from Burdicks? They are known for their chocolate mice! I think they''re adorable, and I think people in the know would think they are cute/sassy ... but honestly, I think most guests would be like "Um, mice?? At a wedding?!" Rodents - even chocolate ones - just don''t scream "romance" to most people!
