It has been a long time since I have posted anything here. I have sold my diamond and am going to venture into the colored stone world. I am just getting some ground work done and looking over my options at this point. I know without a doubt I want a Montana sapphire, I have been to Montana twice and it's one of my favorite places to go so I want to carry a piece of it with me daily.

I want to work with CVB and have my ring made by Caysie. I wanted to know if anyone has used her to source your gemstone and what your opinion of it was? I feel like looking for a good Montana is very difficult. I've found a few on Earth's Treasury that I like but have not asked for more pictures. I am more concerned about a good quality sapphire than size. I want something that is very scintillating, nearly flawless and well saturated.

I've looked at Gemfix and nothing really speaks to me. I have looked at a few other Montana suppliers but the quality does not seem very good.

Opinions would be very much appreciated, thank you.

Incredibly true. They also tend to shift a lot, CS is rated by eye clean (few are IF), most Montana are also heated, if that matters to you.

Have you looked at these? I tried linking gems 2213 and 2238.

Thanks for sharing, I guess I should have stated that I wanted something other than a round. Also looking for no visible inclusions. I do like the cut style on the second one you linked.

Caysie has a great eye for colored stones. I'd absolutely use her to source one.

I did not use her to source a stone but I bought a colored stone from her and she did the setting. I think she has a very good eye as well and she may have access to more resources that you do not as a direct consumer.

I never bought one from her, I had enquired about a sapphire once but didn't get the degree of detailed answer I"m used to getting from lapidaries. Probably unfair expectations on my part, but I'm a colored stone baby and am used to being able to ask questions about heat treatment and certs and origins and pantone lol. So I stick to colored stone specialists if I'm making a big or expensive purchase for piece of mind. If it's a colored stone that isn't super expensive or known to be widely treated, I"d probably be ok having her source it just for ease.

Caysie is great and I love her. The one caveat with working for her is that you probably need to add 8 weeks to whatever time table she gives you— I did not have this problem with her. It seems many do.

I haven’t purchased from this site before, but Blaze-N-Gems has a large inventory that comes direct from their mine. I sorted by VVS clarity and these came up:

What's a lapidary?

I guess it's good I don't have a time frame. Thank you.

@Polabowla
A lapidary is the person who cuts / facets / polishes / engraves gemstones.
