Good morning, good morning!

How is everyone? Nothing much to report, I will be outside in the cold shortly to get my horses'' shoeing done so that should burn some calories, especially struggling with two naughty Shetland Ponies too!

I am just waiting for the weather to warm up then I can get busy outside, but it is so darn cold that I am hiding indoors at the moment until it warms up a bit - soon hopefully. Then I can get active again outside and blitz off some more calories.

How is everyone else doing?

Well, despite all my complaining yesterday, I forced myself to work out last night. I was feeling pretty energetic, so I thought I''d be ok. Well, after mile 2, I was very tired, but I forced myself to jog another mile. I just don''t feel like I did anything if I don''t do 3 miles! I also did some weights-legs, arms, very little on the abs since the stomach is still tender. I also did 20 pushups, which I felt pretty good about since I haven''t attempted any for at least a year. I also did them regular style, not the kind with my knees on the ground. I''ve always been pretty good at pushups, and I''m glad I can still do them. I''m actually sore today, and that''s a rare event for me to have any muscle soreness. But, overall I feel good, and hopefully I can get some kind of run in today after work.

Running today, but not until this afternoon. A day-long staff meeting starts in 10 minutes and we aren''t going to be able to squeeze in a workout before hand. I will post an update a bit later.

Happy Friday!

Just don''t overdo it Coda! Well I have finished wrestling with the ponies and I am FREEZING so I should have burned off some calories!

My computer sucks.. Just lost my message.

Well, if I can remember what I said...

I forced myself to work out yesterday too. It was hard b/c I just wanted to go to sleep and even let my eyes close a time or two while following the video tape. I realized that that particular tape isn''t challenging enough anymore b/c I had to speed up their exercises to sweat and get moving. I''ll have to find more. I did some abs too, which I try to every time I work out. I forgot my leg exercises but am not surprised given my sleepiness during the workout. I weighed myself again this morning and it was better but still not where I''d like it. I just keep telling myself---water weight, water weight, water weight.. It will go away one of these days. That will be my mantra for the day.

Lorelei, I think it''s neat you have horses. I would like to live somewhere where I could have some. Do you have more than the two? Do you have other animals than horses?

Coda, I think you are doing great! 2 miles is wonderful and 3 is almost unbelievable for me. I can barely run for 3 minutes at a time! Try not to be down on yourself.

Have a good day everyone.
Speaking of water, off to refill my water bottle...

Amy I have a horse and two Shetland Ponies, they are my babies! I also have 15 chickens, 1 ancient bunny and 6 cats.... I think thats it for now....... one day I shall have my very own pet piggie too

Amy, if you want to get your mileage up more quickly, you might want to try some interval training. I started a few weeks ago, and it has really helped me. Most times I don''t run 3 miles solid. I can do it, but it gets boring. So, I started interval training to make the time pass faster. When I started out I would run for 0.05 miles at 8 mph, and then walk for 0.05 miles at 4 mph then repeat over and over. I''ve now gotten it to the point where I run 0.2 miles at 8 mph then walk 0.1 miles at 4 mph. It''s definitely seemed to increase my stamina, but I can only do this about 2 times a week because it is very tiring to me. It''s also a lot easier if you do this on a treadmill, exercise bike, elliptical machine or something that measures the mileage.

Hi all.
Not much to report. I was supposed to have my trainer today but I''m sick so I called it off. I have to weigh in tomorrow, so that sucks. But, I''m not going to push myself when I am having trouble breathing. ugh... hate colds! At least I''m not that hungry... yet.

Coda, thanks for the tips! Actually, I worked with a personal trainer for a month or so and he introduced me to interval training. It does make the time pass quicker. Well, actually, I was doing intervals before him but never using a real pattern. He had me do them using the incline since I didn''t want to run at that time. Usually, I walk at a 4.0 incline and 3.6 speed for 30 min. So using 3-4 intervals, 2 minutes each, I would increase my incline raising it the first time to 6.0 and then up 6.5 and then 7.0. Now, i''ve begun keeping the same incline at 4.0 but raising speed from 3.6 to 4.0 for each interval. I try to do 3 during the 30 minutes, one in each of the 10 minute segments. I like this so far. In the beginning, I ran for 2 minutes each and now i''m trying to do at least 2 of the intervals at 3 minutes each. I''m trying to get my intervals to last a little longer as time passes and I assume my speed will increase at some point too. I wonder if I should be raising it consciously though. For now, i''ve been leaving the incline alone but not sure if I should increase/decrease that as well.

Amanda, sorry you''re not feeling well.

Lorelei, wow! I''m sure you keep busy. I have one cat and she drives me crazy!!!

I did my 1.5miles or so yesterday, it keeps getting harder and harder with all the dogs coming out, because I have to stop and let P play or let her just roam free and keep an eye on her while I continue walking. Also alot of times our friends are out with their dogs, so if I don''t stop and talk I feel all anti-social!

So we were out there for 1.5 hours yesterday and I did a measly 1.5 miles and about an hour of gabbing. hahah.

Today I am going to try to walk 2m after work at this trail near us...I may take P with me to work this afternoon so that she can benefit from the 2m walk too and then we don''t have to do it later at home.

Also I know Greg wants to run this weekend so we may do a walk with him then too. We shall see! Oh and positive news, the arm after being really sore that one night after class was SOO much better last nite, and feels almost normal again, tiny twinges here and there. So I did not overdo it it seems!

Oh my gosh, I suddenly remember why I started working out in the mornings. Working out after work is SO much more difficult. I haven''t even gone yet and already I''m moving like molasses, I''m tired and just want to go home and veg. Getting it out of the way first thing is much easier, despite the whole waking up extra early thing....

Wish me luck. I''m supposed to run 4.5 miles and I can''t decide if I''m too full or just feeling bloated or just whining for no reason in hopes of finding a good excuse not to go...

:)
