OK, so technically I haven''t been to the gym yet today but I am on schedule to go after class this afternoon, and I also went yesterday. Still doing my usual 60 minutes of cardio. Really have to add in weights at some point, just haven''t yet.

Also, I took the plunge this morning and joined WW. I am trying out the Core plan (FI''s suggestion) to start with and we will see how that goes. I am mostly worried about eating out and how that will work especially as a veggie. Also, between the flex points and the points that you get from working out, I don''t think I will lose if I use them all, which is what a girl who works in my lab said was her experience - that she couldn''t eat more than half of them and lose. So I think that that may be different from person to person and also depending on what your eating habits are when you start etc...

I also had a minor breakdown when I weighed myself this morning, but FI and I talked about it and I feel better knowing that the majority of the weight I''ve gained since we started dating is still a result of the car accident and I just haven''t managed to take that weight off. Somehow thats easier to cope with than feeling like I''ve screwed up in some major way and not been disciplined enough. I''m sure that is a factor, but its good to know it isn''t the only factor.

How is everyone else doing?

Congrats, Ambergretchen, on taking the WW plunge! I re-joined one week ago (actually last Monday) and am also trying the Core program. I can see how it will really work wonderful once I learn to do more planning and stop my reliance on packaged-prepared foods! Right before I joined WW, BF and I had done a very large food shopping that included mainly pasta and packaged meals-in-a-bag, and of course it''s been very hard to resist eating what he''s having....I weighed in last night and lost 2.2 lbs but I know the first week should be a much larger loss- I was just very bad! Maybe we can inspire each other to stay on track!

Work has interfered with my workout the last two days

so tomorrow is a MUST!!!

p.s.- about two years ago I joined WW for the first time, was super motivated, did the flex-points and lost 48 lbs in 4 months! Then I let all the attention go to my head, started dating a lot, got together with my BF and put the weight back on plus 10 lbs!!!! So honestly, I need to lose 75lbs to be a "good weight", 100 lbs to be rather thin. Lets see what happens this time!

WOOHOOO

I can FINALLY say that I went to the gym as well!!!

I quit smoking a year ago (yaay for me!), and I couldnt keep the weight off! Horrible! Took the 1st step today! Down side is, that my trainer said that my metabolism is pretty screwed up because of the smoking, and I will probably gain weight first, then to loose it. He also metioned that I will be going up and down weight-wise for AT LEAST 6 months before I''ll loose anything (getting married in 4 months IIEEK) ...

But the bright side is that I will live longer, don''t feel like a complete disaster EVERY time I walk up stairs, and my skin looks fabu! (patting myself on shoulder [

) theeth appear to be whiter, breath doesn''t smell anymore (or at least I like to think so

), clothes don''t smell etc etc.

AmberGretchen;

For what it''s worth, I had a little hartattack myself this morning when I weighed myself. Sure, clothes were a little tight, but THAT bad.... Well, at least we are doing something about it! and we should be a little proud of ourself..

Let''s go out and have us a bucket of KFC!!!

Just kidding

I think it is great that everyone is working so hard. Yippee. I slacked off this morning and went five miles rather then use weights. I finally finshed my term paper on fetishes and I was just to wrung out to do much mother then basic movement. Time for stats and some spiffy anovas. Hope everyone else is feeling motived like the LIW above me.

Hey Rockchick - congrats on being quit for a year! I know you''ve heard this but that''s definitely the single best thing you can do for your health. I know the lingering side effects suck, but that is still a huge and important achievement.

Yay for WW - we will all have to keep each other updated. I haven''t had my first one-week weigh-in since I just started today but I will post the results as soon as I do. FFF - I totally feel you on having bad stuff in the house. I made a whole pound of pasta last night before signing up this morning because I had a really upset stomach and it was the only thing in the apartment I could eat, but now the remains are sitting in the refrigerator looking at me enticingly whenever I open the fridge. I know I could use some of my flex points to have some, but I''d rather wait until Friday when mom and I hang out and have lunch out and use some points there

Good job everyone, and keep up the good work!

Oh yeeaaahhhh! That is an EXCELLENT start!!!!!!! I can''t remember where/when I read it, it was a long time ago, but they say that people should lose a max of 2 lbs. per week to lose it and keep it off longer. Slow and steady wins the race

fff and AmberGretchen - You girls are great! I don''t think that I would be able to follow one of those programs at all

Rockchick - Big congrats! Quitting smoking is a major accomplishment!!!

Matatora - 5 miles sounds like an excellent workout

As for me, I have nothing to contribute

. I am really getting discouraged. I am either injured or I am sick. Right now I am sick. I cannot take a big breath without coughing and my voice is hoarse and strained. I cough all the time and I sound like a walrus or seal or something. I have been sucking down cough suppressants, but they only work a little. It''s been over a week and I don''t think that it''s gotten much better. I''ll have to try to go to the doctor''s ASAP. I hope it''s not bronchitis!!

I am still watching my food portions and doing nightly weigh-ins. I am satisfied with my progress, and I''ve learned some interesting things along the way about how my body digests food.

Can''t wait until I can get into a good exercise pattern so that I can really get going! My poor sis has had to workout by herself these past few weeks.

Well, I went to the doctor this morning. Luckily, they said my lungs are clear, so it''s not bronchitis or anything like that. They said it is probably what I originally thought: a bad cold on top of spring allergies. I''m still surprised at the severe cough that I have, though, since my cold is long gone. I guess it is going to take awhile to completely clear up. I picked up some prescrip. meds.

YAY FFF!!! 2.2 lbs is a great loss for a week ~ perfect!!!

As for me... I kinda slid off the wagon at the end of last week with 2 tests that I absolutely HAD to get A''s on.... I didn''t work out on Friday, Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday... So I pretty much put everything else aside and studied and studied and studied.... Considering I came out with a 90% on my Spanish test and a 94% on my very tough anatomy test, I have to say that slacking off on my exersize was worth the sacrifice. And even though I wasn''t working out, I still ate pretty well... uh, that is until Sunday, when we didn''t have any turkey or chicken or fish thawed out so FI ordered take-out Chinese and I was soooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad. But, that was only one meal and I''m back on track!! Getting ready to work out right now!!
