Allright Ladies where are you? I dont want to flood anyone with PMs but I will! I hope everyone is doing all right with sticking to their plan.
I was doing well yesterday until we decided to go see a movie and afterwards (like 10:30 at night hit Ruby Tuesdays) had cheese fries for dinner. I kick ass at making myself exercise. I suck at staying on my diet. And it is killing me. Grrrr. I dont have bad food in the house, but that is not keeping be from going out with friends. Yikes!
Milly- One week till you start posting your weigh ins, best of luck!
FFF- Morning! Where are you?

Today is the first day of my attempt at the south beach diet. I am doing well so far. I have bleacher seats at the cubs game tonight, so my mantra all day is "no beer, no hotdogs" hope it works, since I had both at the game yesterday, but today is a new day.

on my way to the gym...

Ohhh hot dogs!!! Yummy! You are a far better woman then I. I was planning on going walking but with the storms....well we will see.

Mat-- do your friends know what your eating plan is? If they know what you are and aren't supposed to eat, maybe then it would be easier for you to stay on your plan. Are you still doing your modified atkins? All of my friends KNOW that I eat sugar on very rare occasion, so if they saw me putting back a dozen donuts I would definitely hear about it!

Great job with your exercising though! I know that working out all summer long has helped me eat lots of sugarfree ice cream and not put on any weight! haha

Anyway- I got my exercise in for today

Hey ladies - sorry I''ve been negligent in posting. Unfortunately my gym is closed this week, so I''m at a bit of a loss for what to do for this week, because walking/running can be hard on my knee (plus time consuming with the walking to get a good workout). I am going to go home and clean the apartment (vigorously) today, so I think that counts. Tomorrow I might try the walking/running thing. Everyone in my lab is sick, so I''m hoping I''m not coming down with something, but I''m not feeling super-hot at the moment, so I guess its not the end of the world to take it easy. Do any of you ever worry when you slack off (even if its forced by circumstances you can''t control) that you''ll have trouble getting back on track? That''s my big fear right now, so if anyone has any tips to be less worried about that they''d certainly be appreciated...

Hi everyone...matadora, I''ll sit on the *discouraged couch* with you...since getting back from vacation, I have no desire to exercise or watch what I eat...I''m almost back up to my original weight before I started Curves, but my pants aren''t getting tighter, so I''m sticking to that it''s muscle (I''ll delude myself anyway I can!!!)...

This was a 12-day cruise = 12 days of constantly eating....morning...noon....snack....night (dinner for us was at 8:30 pm! I never eat that late!).....*sigh* So I''ve been back to Curves 3 times, which is a start, but I need something to jump start my motivation....

ANY IDEAS???

Sadly, my friends know, but disagree...so they tend to encorage me to be naughty. None of them are wanting to lose any weight so why should I? Ignoring the fact that they are half my size.... I mean they know beucase I am always going I am walking >>>>who wants to go with and they all roll their eyes. It has acutally become a bit of joke around the group becuase I exercise the most eat the least but I am still the round one. Phone conversations start with no worries I have already gone today/tonight...
It is rough becuase they are all convinced that if I gave up dieting my weight would just magically come off. I wish! My parents are supportive and Jeff is too. But really it needs to be me. I need to get some will power so when I go out I can "just say no".

Hey ladies!!

Sorry I haven''t been posting. I went walking with my friend last Friday. We walked 3 miles, 1.5 miles uphill, 1.5 miles downhill. We walked to this spot where there are a like a gazillion stairs and we ran up and down the stairs. We did two rounds of that and boy! did we get a good workout!

My calves are still sore today!! So I''m not exercising tonight. I''ll have to see tomorrow if my calves are still sore or not. Since I was told not to exercise while any muscles are sore because I can get injured easily.

Matatora, I think I''m going to push back my weigh in for two weeks, since I''m going to Vegas next week and I know I will be grubbing like crazy!! I don''t want to disappoint myself.....

I find that it's hard for me to be good when I go out to eat with friends or a group unless I take charge and figure out where we are going..aka and don't put myself in food-harm's way. For example there is a Mexi place that I don't love alot but our friends all adore. I only get one thing there, the chicken soup. It's very healthy! So I just get that. Or they have a good kind of Shrimp Louie mexi version of a salad with vinaigrette, very yummy! I do splurge a bit on some chips and guac but other than that, much better than if we went to some horrible fried place. Or we go to a fave sushi place. Or another fave is this local Cuban place that does amazing things with grilled seabass and white wine sauce and tomatoes (YUM). Or I get a burrito at a mexi place and hold the sour cream and guac that time around.

I also think some of it depends on where you are, locale wise and what is popular around there. We just got back from the beaches in FL and everything there is fried fried fried! Ew! I mean I love fried shrimp as much as the next foodie but how much of it can you eat? Where is the grilled sauteed spicy stuff? I thought for sure we'd find some great fresh fish that was sauteed in some great sauce or something..but most of the stuff was fried or in a sandwich or was chowder. I was so happy to get home here where the local stores like Whole Foods have healthy pre-made yummy salads and things that are sauteed and fresh fish etc. If I am out at a place like that, I will eat the crap food, but if I don't go, then I won't eat it.

So I say take charge on where you and your friends go next time! Try to focus on a healthier place where you can get something that won't break the diet yanno? Or take that one splurge and be good the rest of the time. IMO you can't deny yourself ALL the time. I try to say okay well if we walk to dinner 2 miles then I can have that dessert. Or sometimes I just have the dessert but I make the conscious decision to not feel bad about it. It has to feel right...you make a conscious decision to splurge on calories/fat etc because otherwise you feel sick and guilty when it's done and that's no fun at all!

That said, my workout update is that we had 5 days of rain and humidity in FL and lots of fried food and desserts...but we did go out one day and walk 2 miles and also rode our bicycles to the beach and back that day which was about 7 miles total I'd say....definitely was sore the next day but it felt good to get out and do something other than eat! Don't look any different though and clothes fit the same, so that part is good.

Oh and ETA that I think you really have to be at the point where you can stick with it for it to succeed. No one else can help you (unfortunately)....it's all you! You have to make the pact to do it and stick with it and take the good with the bad and keep your eye on the goal. Last winter I felt heify because I had slacked off and was eating ridiculous amounts of fat but I didn't make myself stop til a few months later. It was just time. So don't kick yourself because maybe you aren't TOTALLY there at that 'time' yet. But at least you are trying and training.
