Morning Ladies! It is so awesome to see so many people participating and getting fit!

We went walking for 90 minutes this morning. My favorite way to start the day! I am still doing poorly with my food intake, but exercising is better then nothing…

FFF 4.2lbs that is marvelous!!!! You are my hero with self control! Yea!!!

Well, my 55 yr old Mom lost 2 lbs yesterday--not like she bloody needs to. I hate my family (ok, not really)...I am seriously the only one of my female relatives that was not a runway model or pinup girl at some point. Arg.

I, on the other hand, don''t own a scale. However, did go do an easy elliptical workout today since I was ill yesterday; but I didn''t want to lose the habit. Must drink water today!

Food intake--blarg. Between migraine and flu-y ness yesterday I went to the fridge, got out the chocolate cake i made, took it in its orange tupperware to the bed, and just ate it. Heh.

But today is another day!

Librarian: thanks for the suggestion, I tried some leg extensions day before yesterday!

Choclate cake yummy!

Have you ever tried Coca Cola Choclate cake, it is sinful.
I know how you feel about the other females, sometimes it makes me really frustrated and the rest of the time I grateful becuase that means people are super nice to us when we go out.

that is so totally true. If my mom walks into an expensive store with me, we immediatly get help. If I walk in by myself....yeah. nada. zip. nothing. Mom says it is bc I have a *taken* sign on my forehead, but I can''t help thinking that being 5''10 with red hair and about 125 lbs on her can''t hurt the attention.

Alright, so a late start today but should be a good workout - my 5th this week! :)

Interval training, if all goes according to plan. Sometimes the gym gets unbelievably busy if you''re there at any point after 9am (which is what prompted us to start going before as opposed to after work), so our best laid plans might get derailed, but strength training is always a good Plan B.

Anyway, I''ll keep you posted of course. :)

Happy Friday!

Amazing how chocolate cake has the power to make us feel better, why can''t apples and oranges etc?

But as you say RT, tomorrow is another day

I walked 20 minutes with Jelly this morning but had to stop early because the blisters on my feet were getting too uncomfortable. I plan on doing another 30 tonight on my exercise bike...I may finish up my last 10 this morning if I can break away from Pricescope!

Rainbowtrout, we all have moments of weakness with the chocolate cake. It sounds yummy!

Matatora, I''d ask for the recipe for coca-cola cake but I''m afraid I''d break down and make it tonight!

Happy exercising to you all.

Good morning all!

I saw my trainer this morning and did about 50 minutes of cardio before she got there.

I''m going out to dinner tonight with some friends tonight to a place that has very yummy food, some of which is sushi and good for me... but others are not. I need to stay away from those! I''m sure that there will be many drinks involved to. So, I did some extra exercise in case I want to indulge a little. However, my weigh in is in the morning tomorrow so I don''t want to be overloaded so I''m too bloated. I ate pretty well this week and exercised 5 days. I know I need to step the cardio up... walking just doesn''t seem to be cutting it anymore. The only bad part with exercise is the hunger that comes with it -- I ate breakfast an hour ago and I''m already hungry. Ugh!

You ladies are doing great!!!

Good morning to all and TGI FRIDAY!!! WooHoo!

Chocolate Coca Cola Cake...OH NO! Think I might want the recipe too...It is so true Lorelei...cake always seems to make it better and chocolate in particular...we librarians are definitely "chocoholics." Yummy!

Today''s workout:
30 minutes elliptical ( I am short 10 minutes on my cardio today, coz I had the hardest time getting outta bed...ugh! But it is my own fault...first I am taking a continuing studies course late on Thursday nights (intro to jewelry and metalsmithing) and second I stayed up to watch the first episode of "Bleak House" on PBS...(I love period piece movies!). Hence only -6 hours of sleep...

40 minutes weight-training: Chest & Shoulders.

Ster, you would be proud. I bench pressed (2)sets of (8) @ 95lbs and (1)set of (10) @ 95lbs. It is a slow building process. I think maybe next week I will ask one of the guys to spot me and try one set at 100lbs...SCAREY

Rainbow, I am glad you tried the extensions. I just added them back to my leg workout a few weeks ago. They really make your quads burn. My problem area with running is actually my achilles tendons and of course I do worry about my left IT Band these days. BUT I sure do love to run.

I did pretty well with small meals yesterday...but today is fancy lunch day. A few of my colleagues and I do a fancy lunch a couple times each semester. We have a fabulous culinary arts school up the road and they have a restaurant run by students. You can get a really nice (fine dinner quality)lunch with dessert and coffee for under $10.00. OMG and it is sooooo good! But I promise, I will try to select the healthiest entree they order...then order the CHOCOLATE CAKE...LOL

Have a great day ladies!!!!

AP...try a cereal or breakfast heavy in fiber, aka Kashi or Cracklin Oat Bran are my faves or you could have oatmeal with some fruit, that keeps me full til ~lunch but if I sneak and eat something like Trix or something with not alot of fiber, I am typically hungry about an hour later...BIG difference.

I went to class last nite which felt good that I did it, but last nite was a bad night as Portia has been upset with some digestive problems and we were up every hour or so...I want to walk tonite my 2m but we''ll see how both she and I feel, maybe I will just take a nap with her instead!!

My workout for tonight will consist of painting the wall our staircase extends from with my husband. It will require more than the usual physical demands of painting just a wall because there is quite a high ceiling above so we will have to use one of those extended pole rollers...and I''ll be doing all the taping/detail work. I think I will try a yoga class at the gym tomorrow for the first time. I''ve never done it before so here''s hoping!

On the food intake subject: In September I phased out all meat from my diet (including fish and chicken) it''s not for everyone, but it has been working for me. Oh, I did try sushi for the first time about 2 weeks ago--it was great but I''ll save that for special occasions. Anyway, I have found that what works best for me so I don''t binge at the end of the day is bringing pieces of fruit like apples and oranges to work with me...I have an English muffin with (I can''t believe it''s not) light butter, then a piece of fruit mid-morning, and a salad for lunch (with all the fixins'' it is about 350 calories. I try to eat another fresh fruit or veggie for a snack around 3 (about 100 cal.) For dinner I try to eat as close to 6 p.m as possible, and I usually have something equaling about 500 cal. then. I also cut out alcohol--except on a Friday or Saturday night. For a while this summer I was coming home from work and sitting out on the patio with hubby having 2-3 beers or glasses of wine a few times a week, plus going out on weekends! With just walking the dog 30 minutes a day no wonder I gained 20 pounds since we got married! I feel so much better with eating lots of small things during the day to keep up energy. Every few days I will have a couple cookies or something to satisfy the old sweet tooth, but I buy the snack packs and split one with the hubster.

Luscious, you are my hero! :)

Also, about Bleak House - is this the repeat of the Sunday show? Or maybe in my neck of the woods (Ohio) they air it on Sunday nights. Anyway, I digress... So, while in England visiting my boyfriend''s family in December, I caught the last two episodes of it. EVERYBODY there loved the series and I fell in love with it as well, so I was thrilled to finally get the opportunity to watch it from the beginning. Keep watching it, it gets better and better.

Hey M

Yes it is the series that ran in England last year. They started it on this past Sunday (I am not too far from you in Michigan...lol) We have a DVR, so I recorded it and did not get a chance to watch it until last night. It is quite something else! And Gillian Anderson is terrific. What a different role for her. It is riveting that is for sure. Cannot wait to see what is going to happen next. I also loved David Copperfield (a few years ago, starring the boy who plays Harry Potter) and Our Mutual Friend. Good stuff that Dickens is...lol

Have a great Friday.
Elise

Elise,

I moved to Ohio in June to join my BF but I''m a Michigan girl really. I lived in Detroit for years after moving to the States, and then hopped over to Ann Arbor to do Undergrad. Once I got my BSE, I just stayed. I love Ann Arbor, and miss it dearly. In fact, I miss Michigan more than I thought I would (my family are still there, of course, so I''m up and down 75 quite often). Take good care of it for me. Ohio is ... kinda blah (no offense to anyone living here). :)
