Yay, it''s Friday and i''ve finished my 5 days of working out! If only I could celebrate by having a big piece of chocolate cake. Ok, sorry...bad workout thread talk.

Monarch, I can''t see myself running a marathon but you never know! I did a breast cancer walk last summer and was soooo sore the next few days. Maybe this summer i''ll actually be more in shape and not in as much pain if I do another. It would kind of be fun to see improvements. It would be fun to actually meet at a marathon or some other health related activity!

I also wanted to say that I took some motivation from reading another thread yesterday..the one about losing weight vs. getting engaged. Sometimes, just on a rare occasion

, I feel a bit sorry for myself and feel like I will NEVER lose the weight I want. It was a nice reminder that it *will* happen, it just takes commitment and hard work. Thanks ladies!

Have a great weekend!

It''s bad in here if i''m replying to myself. Where''s everyone?? No one working out this Friday?? I''m soon to be off work and just had an omelette for lunch. It was good

and I had mozzarella cheese to make myself feel less guilty and didn''t eat the potatoes.

Well, have a good weekend and "see" everyone Monday.

i did my 2.5miles yesterday..and also did arm weights and leg lifts.

have a great weekend all!

I guess I''ll start posting here again!

I''ve been going for walks ever since maybe two days after surgery. They started off being about 1-2 blocks, and now some of them are more like 1.5 miles. I tried swimming (aka floating while slowly moving my limbs) yesterday, but that ended up making my back hurt more. I can walk pretty much pain-free (yay!) and I feel like I''m getting stronger each day. Mara, I used to be just like Greg in that I ran a lot and didn''t think that running was a real work out. It''s transportation, and what old ladies do in the mall.

Thanks for talking about how much it''s done for you -- it really got me doing it lately, and I love it!

Food-wise, I''ve been really weird lately. I had trouble keeping anything down after surgery, and even when I got over that I only wanted smoothies and milkshakes and soup. I''ve finally gotten to the point where I can eat anything except for cooked veggies and cooked/canned fruit, which just is just bizarre. I''m down about 7 pounds, probably because of my complete lack of appetite and laying in bed a lot, but I''m sure that it will go up a little bit once I start moving around more and gaining a little muscle back.

I walked about 1.5 miles earlier today, and am thinking of going for another short walk pretty soon. It''s gorgeous outside!

OK, I want to know exactly how much pain I''m gonna be in now! I arranged to take the Monday after the breast cancer walk off, I knew I''d be pretty "done in." Did you train very much for the walk you did last summer? I haven''t been totally on track with the training regimen our little manual has mapped out for us. I''ve been doing a moderate amount of walking, but took a week off due to an injury a couple weeks ago, and then I kind of had to ease myself back into walking slowly. Tomorrow the team is walking together and we''re supposed to do 16 miles--the most I''ve done with the team has been 10 or 12 (can''t remember) and the most I''ve done on my own has been 8! I have been a little freaked out since my foot decided to cop out on me, even now that it is ok I''m worried it will happen again.

Congrats on your 5 consecutive workouts! You are awesome! That does take some major motivation...I''m glad to hear you''ve gained some inspiration from reading others'' experiences here. It would be really fun to meet at something health-related! There is a website called meetup.com where you can find tons of get-togethers and groups related to pretty much anything. I know there are lots of fitness oriented groups. Maybe we could find something through that.

Blen..it's good to see you back and up and going at it again!!

I really do love walking...it's not the most exciting of exercises, but paired with my kickboxing once or so a week it works out okay. I also feel like it stretches out my muscles too when they are tight and yes it really has changed my lower half in a big way, leaning me out big time. Now if I can just get my top half in the same direction?!!?!? And yes when the weather is nicer it's amazing, today there was a nice wind on about 1/2 of the circle path I walk so I kept getting wind blowing through my hair and on my face when I needed it most, just as I was about to get too hot. So it worked out great. I did 2.5 miles today and some situps/core work.
