Wow, it''s 2:10 and there''s no thread yet!! What''s going on w/everyone? I actually worked out this morning for the first time this week. I only did part of my tape b/c I just got too tired but i''m glad I did something, especially b/c I just had Mexican for lunch. I am feeling a bit better, now it''s more of a regular cold rather than a stomach virus or the flu. I''m just still feeling pretty worn out. I am hoping to work out in the morning too.
So how''s everyone else''s Friday going?

I meant to start the thread a few hours ago, but I''ve been busy at work and haven''t had a chance.

I ran this morning, but only 2 miles because I was in a hurry and had only 30 minutes at the gym. I''m making a concentrated effort to stretch more, and did so today. I find it helps a lot.

The weather was beautiful most of the day and now, just as I am getting ready to leave work, it is getting cloudy and gloomy. Still, I it is Friday, and crappy weather notwithstanding, I am in good spirits... albeit a little bit restless.

I need to find something to do this weekend, something fun that will recharge my batteries a bit. I''m a bit burnt out, I think, and my motivation and will to persevere is running low. What type of things do you all do to lift yourselves up a bit? I used to love going to bookstores and hunting for a good, quick read... maybe I''ll try that. Any other ideas?

Hi ladies! I''ve been busy at work too and this morning when I checked for the workout thread it wasn''t up, but I got distracted before I was able to start one. Just one of those chaotic Fridays.

I didn''t work out yesterday, I was feeling kind of poopy...but I did take the dog for an hour long walk to the park where we did his obedience training Wednesday evening. We had to cross the metra tracks downtown (suburb of Chi.) to get to the park, and going over them the first time was ok as there were no trains coming through at the time. But on the way back we had to wait for at least 3 commuter trains and my dog was scared to death of not only the pedestrian gate, but the trains themselves! Luckily I had his leash attached to a prong collar instead of his regular leather one, or he would''ve gotten away from me! it freaked me out something awful. I felt so bad for him, and I won''t be taking him that route between 5-6 p.m. anymore! It was a good walk, though...my gluts are still sore today!

Stermag, I like to recharge with a manicure, or I''ll go for a walk or drive around the surrounding area and see what''s going on in everyone''s yard this time of year. Right now people are just starting to clean up dead debris and stuff from their gardens or landscape, and some are starting their outdoor "remodeling" projects. I just like being nosy and seeing what people are up to after being stuck inside all winter. Another good recharger is doing some window shopping in the mall, just to see what''s out for spring. I don''t buy too much until closer to the end of May or June--gotta wait for the sales, lol!

I''m going to walk again for about an hour after work tonight--just no train crossings this time!

Stermag,
I love going to the movies or even renting a movie. If it''s a good one, it definitely takes my mind off of things. Actually, Syriana is playing at a local cheapy theater and i''m hoping to catch it this weekend. When it''s warmer, I love going to festivals or other outdoor activities. Lately, i''ve been finding activities to do w/my son that have been fun, e.g., learning how to get sap from a tree, watching sheep shearing. Being in the suburbs, there''s actually usually something going on somewhere. Or sometimes we go see a new exhibit at a museum. As Monarch suggested, a manicure is great! I have been trying to grow out my nails (I always got acrylic before) so haven''t been in quite a while though. Also, look in your local papers. Ours has a section w/activities that sometimes has something.

Hope you find something good to do! I''m hoping for a relaxing weekend myself b/c I need a little more recovery time.

Stermag, btw, have you read any of Janet Evanovich''s Stephanie Plum series? (They''re called ''one for the money'', ''two for the dough'', etc.) They''re really cute, about a female bounty hunter, and quick reads. you reminded me I have a Borders gift card I need to use!

Monarch, no I haven''t read any of those, I may look into it though. I recently picked up "The Conquest of Happiness" by Bertrand Russell. While philosophical in nature, it has really been eye opening. I highly recommend it, it is truly rejuvenating. I might just re-read it this weekend.

The manicure idea is a good one, especially since it is Easter next weekend and my fingers could use some TLC in time for the big family gathering. We just recently got engaged and there are still some people we have not seen since making the announcement.

But back to the subject of workouts - I am really hopeful that as the weather improves, and running outside will become increasingly more enjoyable, I will regain some motivation. At the moment, I am truly just going through the motions, almost on auto pilot, which is tough.

Amy, as I''m sitting here tossing around different ideas for what to do, I am beginning to think that a good movie might be just the thing... and perhaps a nice dinner somewhere. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

today is kinda boring for me....it was nice this morning and i was running errands then had a 3 hour hair appt (i got my hair cut for spring!) and then had to work for a few hours and then it started POURING....ran some more errands and now it's stopped raining but i'm all tired.

i'll be painting 2 rooms inside the house this weekend so i figure that's a nice workout...!! at least for the arms. at least that way if it rains, i'll be busy all weekend anyway!

have a great weekend gals!
