Well, I did not workout this morning, but I did on both Saturday and Sunday.

I did my ''homework'' and did 30 minutes of cardio and the exercises my trainer listed for me. Basically it was squats and lunges and shoulders and pilates/yoga/abs. I felt really good after doing them. I also did 16 jumping jacks between each type of exercise. Boy, was I red and sweaty. Really sexy...

My eating was pretty bad. I had a pretty big early brunch on Sunday and then went to a kid/adult birthday party later in the afternoon. Who knew they would have so much food... I couldn''t resist. Yesterday I had some cheese and bread for breakfast (but the package on the cheese said it was only 70 calories per serving and I had about three...). I workout out afterwards so I was starving for lunch. Bad, bad, BAD me... I had chinese... an egg roll and a lunch sized portion of beef with broccoli. Then, lots of sushi for dinner. What is wrong with me?! Why can''t I control myself. It''s not like I had the chinese in the house. I had to order it. Why couldn''t I have gotten a salad or somthing?! Only good thing is that I didn''t have any alchohol yesterday. I had about four glasses of wine on Saturday though (spread out over 5 hours...).

I''m so frustrated with the food thing. I just see no progress that it''s really upsetting. I wish I could wire my jaw shut or get lipo or something. Am I never going to get thin?

Oh Amanda Panda- Honey I am sorry you are having such a rough go of it! *hugs* I know how trying this is. I have been trying to lose weight since I was in 8th grade (and 135lbs...looking back a size 8 and 32DD is not such a bad figure

)
The good news is you are keeping up with you rexercise regimen. That counts for a lot. And your body needs time to rest in between workouts, your mucles tears when you work them hard, perticuraly with weight training, if you dont give them time to repairs you may acutally see improvement more slowly. Go at whatever pace you feel can, this is about a healthy lifestyle.
Your eating habits are not terrible, and as for ordering out...well I have a tough time with that too. Why spend the same money for rabbit food when I could have meat? I am trying to force myself to eat in more often becuase it is easier for me to make a list and then stick to it at the store then for me to have that same will power when I am getting ready to spend too much money anyway.
Take things one day at a time, if you dont follow your plan today, start over tommorow. You can do this!

AP, I wish I had the answer for why can we do what we know is right? Such as not ordering and eating chinese food, or in my case eating excessive amounts of peanut m&m''s and whatever bag of cookies is nearby. We know what we should be doing but these changes in our habits wont happen overnight. They are slow and coming. I have lost nearly 20 pounds in the past 2 years, but it certainly wasnt quick and the scale went up and down. I am so much better at eating and excercising than I used to be, but I am still far from perfect. The fact that you are excercising and that you are conscious of your bad choices shows that you are aware of what you should do. And honestly, it sounds as if you are doing really well. Progress happens slowly, and sometimes you dont even notice. So stick to it and I am sure you wil suprise yourself.

As for me. I rode my bike to the gym and did 40 minutes on the precor and rode home. I had every intention of trying the 2 week introductory phase of south beach again today, but they were giving away kashi bar samples at the gym, mmmm... And there is a cubs game tonight, so I am not starting today. But no hotdog at the game tonight!

I went to the gym at lunch today. Ran for 2 miles, then went on the elliptical for 15 minutes, and weight trained for 10 minutes. Then I went to Trader Joe''s for THE most DELICIOUS italian chopped salad (romain lettuce, salami, procolone cheese, garbanzo beans, diced tomato, parmesian dressing). The salad was definitely not lowfat, but I''m doing more "low carb" than low fat. All in all, I feel pretty good.

Well diverted the bad dinner eating yesterday from pasta to steak so at least I got protein rather than carbs. And salad. I was feeling kind of green most of the day yesterday, so I don't think that 'breakfast' stuck which is good..hee hee..since it was pretty fatty chorizo and eggs (YUM).

Today I had my typical coffee & egg whites for breakfast and for lunch I had my fave Whole Foods salad (and got one for tomorrow too...I eat these things all week long, they are too good). Tonite we are having grilled chicken kebabs and veggies with a bit of mozarrella and tomatoes. So definitely a good day for food. For snack I have watermelon, it's SO sweet right now.

For workout I'm planning on going to kboxing class tonite. I know we'll be gorging in Houston so I figure I should be fairly good til then so I won't feel bad later this week.

ETA...re: controlling yourself, I agree that may come with time. It may be very hard to change one's eating habits cold turkey if you are used to pretty much doing or eating whatever you want. Over the winter when I just lost all my healthy regimes and gained my 10lbs, it took me 2-3 tries in spring to start on eating healthy and working out again to really get into it. Finally, I GOT IT. But it took a little bit. So give yourself a bit of slack....and keep at it.

Amanda- If I had a dollar for everytime don''t intend to eat poorly and then the next thing I know I''ve blown it all...I guess I''d have 5ct studs in each ear. I don''t have an answer but I do sympathize with you. It is never easy for me- sometimes my eating is so automatic, I eat and then say "oh wait- I''m not hungry and I promised to watch everything" In my case I need to be really aware, can''t eat when I''m distracted- I eat more silouette ice cream sandwiches just reading posts here than I can remember. I also have to really plan for each meal or else I do the chinese food/fast food thing for every meal. I wanted to refocus this week so last night I went food-shopping. That let me have oatmeal for breakfast and then I brought the following w/me to the city: 1 oz terriaki beef jerky, 1 gr dried fruit, low-fat string cheese and an apple (yes I use one of those silly digital scales

). It''s a challenge finding things I can carry with me but at least it doesn''t leave me starving and heading for something delicious & dangerous. I could eat my way through NYC.

After walking around in the insane heat today I actually brought my clothes w/me & went to the gym after I got off the train. 50 minutes on the treadmill varying speed & incline. I was really exhausted when I started but felt good by the end. but now it''s 8:00 and I could go to bed right now!

Oh FFF that is just exacly how I feel! I swear you must be my other half. I went just over seven miles this evening. But I was streassing all day so I did not drink nearly enough liquids. Right now I am trying to force myself to go and do one of those CE exercise DVDs, and I need go to the store and I really dont want to as I struggle with Wal-Mart and its temptations...

Alright...pulled a muscle in my leg...can''t do my normal gym routine, can''t even do most of the pilates I was used to doing regularly...any recommendations? I was at the doctor, he was running late which made me run late and honestly, alternate exercises didn''t even come up because I needed to get out of there asap. It has been a week, and I''ve tried to eat a little healthier to compensate for my lack of exercise... but, I feel like I need more...so yeah, any recommendations on things to do in the mean time!? I''m at a loss! Stupid legs.

AP, have you ever tried writing down what you eat in a day and keeping it with you? I think that has been mentioned here before, but if there''s a week or day where I''m feeling particularly chunky, I write it down...and seeing what I have written down makes me realize what i SHOULD eat instead of what i WANT to eat...which might mean grabbing the sugar snap peas to snack on from the fridge instead of cheese & crackers or ice cream. Like sometimes it''ll be lunch and I won''t remember that I had that afternoon snack of a donut or whatever, and it really does help me stay on track when I want to. There are always going to be bad days and good days, I think the bottom line is finding an overall balance so everything can be incorporated into your diet, just not every day! I blame my love of food on being Italian, I''m not one for giving things up, so its just figuring out the right way to include everything I love.

Have you tried Hatha yoga? It is very low key all about streching out your muscles and breathing. What part of your leg did you injure, and how badly? Do you think you could do some streching or would that hurt too much?

Blue can you walk or do you have to stay off your feet? I love walking and it''s relaxing.

Also, what about doing core exercises in the meantime, aka the Core Secrets workout got me through a month or so when I had hurt my pec and couldn''t do things like lift weights or kbox etc. It definitely makes you break a sweat and you can lift weights etc and focus on muscle.

Upper, inner thigh, pulled muscle. He had no clue why it happened, and I have no clue how it happened. I just remember it starting to hurt.
I tried the walking, Mara, one day on my lunch break I thought maybe a walk in the park would be ok, I was just itching to do something...and I came back in more pain, not good...I''ve looked online, I''m thinking I''ll just have to stay off of it for another week. I guess it is not the end of the world, but when you get yourself into the habit of being active, it is a pain, and I know it''ll be annoying to work back into my gym habit again.

Oh well

So everyone else has to exercise extra for me, since I cant
