Morning ladies!

how is everyone doing? hope the weekend was good.

I managed to have some discipline to my diet -- the weekends are always difficult!! -- with the exception of a BBQ on saturday afternoon. the weather here was glorious and i had to indulge.

however, i did pilates on friday, sat. and sun. and i must tell you my "core" is aching. i particularly feel it in my lower abdomen which is great to know that i''m actually working out those muscles.

tonight it''s back to running or elliptical...but i''m feeling pretty energetic.

Good morning! I had a pretty good weekend, except for a huge amount of pasta and wine last night because of the Sopranos!

I did my first group training Saturday morning--we walked 5 miles in 2.5 hours! I was definitely feeling the last mile or so, but I wasn''t sore at all the next day. The weather was actually pretty nice and I really like most of the ladies who are participating, so it made a good start to the weekend!

Amy94: I bought some soy milk but haven''t tried it yet. Did you find the almond milk yet?

Everyone have a fabulous day!!!

Morning all.

I am doing ok and eating as I should, but no exercises as I think I might have bruised my hip, it hurts anyway, so no exercises yet. Glad everyone else seems so motivated and is doing so well!

I am always in the wars!

Good morning, Ladies. Another warm one here.

After a pretty rough weekend (I wasn''t feeling well), I ran 5 miles this morning... I could have probably done more, but it would had to have been on all fours. I was pooped.

BF is out of town this week and my sleeping schedule is down the drain. Last night I fell asleep around 2:30am, and had to wake up at 6am to run. When the alarm went off, I thought it was a mistake since I felt like I JUST closed my eyes a half hour earlier.

So, I have a feeling today is going to be brutal and I will be exhausted tonight. Hopefully, it will force me to go to bed at a normal time.

Yawn. I need some caffeine.

me too Lorelei, if its not one thing it''s another! I''m a''gettin old!

I did pilates at home on Saturday after a 3m walk and I totally felt like I pulled something or overdid it in my stomach on Saturday night and all through Sunday. It feels alot better now but I''m going to lay off the core stuff for another day or two and just walk this afternoon.

Greg said, well you overdid it! well DUH but it felt fine at the time. Damn traitorous body!

On another note, the arm seems to be doing okay, it''s still sore but not AS sore as before and I''m wondering if working it out a bit is good for it after all. Hmm.

Hummmm.....3-4 inches of snow here! (Manchester United area)

Thought it best to stay indoors and admire the view from the sofa

I really want to exercise, but with blizzard conditions outside, I think I need to preserve my fat reserves

I am glad the arm is improving Mara at least, that is always the way, you never feel you have overdone it at the time, but a day or so later....

Blod, I don''t have snow here but I am not as far North as you

I was terrible as far as eating goes on Saturday, but set a new personal record on Sunday for swimming laps - 60 whole minutes!

I took it a little easier this morning, because I didn''t want to overdo it, and so I only swam for 35 minutes.

There''s a 93 year old man who used to come to the early swim session every morning, but hasn''t shown up in over a month. He was so nice, and I was beginning to worry that he had died or something. But he showed up today, alive and kicking, which made me happy. I hope that I can be that active when I''m 93 (if I even last that long).

Good afternoon everyone.
I am feeling a bit blah today, probably b/c I weighed myself over the weekend and I had gone up a lb. I don''t see how that''s possible given what I ate and how I exercised so I''m *trying* not to stress about it. It''s not going that well, but I am trying. I really do hate the darn scale! It seems to fluctuate so much. Very annoying! So, since I was already pretty unhappy I didn''t do that great this weekend. I hadn''t planned to exercise but I didn''t eat so good. Not too terrible, just normal I suppose and i''m making an effort to be extra healthy lately. And I will admit, I splurged on some chocolate. It was good but my problem is that I can''t have a little bit and be satisfied. Eating any just makes me want more so I really try to stay away completely or at least every once in awhile. Oh brother...

Anyway, today starts my workout week. I go to the gym tonight and will try to get in a challenging workout.

Mara, glad your arm is feeling better.
Monarch, I went back to the same Whole Foods and looked a bit more and didn''t see the Almond Milk. Maybe i''ll try another or try Trader Joe''s.
Stermag, that''s impressive that you ran w/so little sleep. I woke up in the middle of the night and was so thankful that it wasn''t morning. Boy do I value my sleep!

amy the scale is a cruel trickster!!!

i don't weigh myself, since it's sooo not reliable, you could just be retaining an extra lb of water weight or something. don't let it depress you.

i use how my clothes fit and how i look nekkid to determine what is going on with my body.

i also find, and this may be different for everyone, that my own body takes a week or two to show results...aka whatever i did last week in terms of eating, exercise etc will show up late this week or next week. in a way it's good but in a way it's bad because i always want to see instant results but it takes a while it seems. but now that i know that, i can mentally be ready...aka if we go on a vacation, i see the mostlikelynegativeresults from all the rich yummy foods 2 weeks later! kind of a drag.

I am a brand new newbie here, but would very much enjoy participating in the thread. I''m also NOT a LIW, been married 4 years as of Saturday, but am doin'' the research to upgrade the diamond! I live in Germany where hubby is a captain in the Air Force and is currently deployed so I have a LOT of time to work out! Oh yeah, and eat well, shop, travel..... Currently, I go to x-boxing once a week and it kills, spinning once a week and it also kicks my behind, then the other 2 - 4 days I do the elliptical machine or run on the treadmill. Today I ran 4.5 miles.

I have upped (is that a word?) my running over the last couple of months, kept my eating the same, and have noticed dramatic improvements! I think running takes the cake as far as exercise for me and how my body shapes up. Unfortunately, it''s very hard on the bones, which is what I''m fighting now. I swear, since turning 30 last summer...it''s going downhill. Not really!! :) I definitely have been working out and eand eating extra well since the BIG 3-0, since I figure if I don''t look good NOW, when will I ever!! And to top it off, hubby has made comments like "you''re not trying to get skinny are you?". Um, how do I answer that?!? Yes...no...well kinda. We We like to eat good food, so no problem with getting too skinny! Thanks for welcoming a newcomer.

Virginia - I was sick all weekend, but particularly on Sunday, which is when I planned to go. Some sort of stomach thing. I don''t have a gallblader and from time to time my stomach acts up for no good reason.

What''s even more regrettable: I checked out the site on Saturday to get directions and realized that a week ago, the show was taking place in Novi, Michigan... 10 minutes from where we were all weekend! So I missed out TWICE!

On a positive note, I think I found a couple of good candidates from the Natural Sapphire Company. They''re smaller than I originally hoped to find, but quality should make up for it (at least in my mind). I''ll hopefully find some time to update the thread later.

Mara, good point about things taking a little longer to show effect. I do need to keep that in mind. I definitely agree about the scale. Even when it goes down, I worry b/c it fluctuates so often. I did feel good this weekend b/c my pants felt looser. I do need a smaller size, however, the smaller size is a bit tight so i''m trying to wait a little longer. I did like having to wear a belt to feel comfortable though.

Hailey, welcome! Sounds like you''ve got a great workout routine going. Keep it up! It''s good to hear how running helps make body changes. I run a very little amount in intervals when on the treadmill walking and am slowly trying to increase it.

Virginia, I understand the Blah feeling. I am there too! But it''s good that you''re still working out, even if you just feel like you''re going through the motions. I have a feeling I will feel that way after I work out today. But I have confidence that sooner or later, this will get easier as long as we keep it up. I am trying to look at things long-term.

Welcome Hailey

Good to have you join the DWT!

Amy94 - Just walking on the treadmill is great for you!! I''m kind of an all or nothing person... (totally psychological)..I either have to run at least at 6.5 - 7.0 at 1 - 2.5% incline for AT LEAST 40 minutes....or...I don''t do anything at all. If I just walk VERYFAST for 30-40 minutes, I get mad at myself for NOT running (because I know I can)!!! It''s the same with eating...I eat well!!...or I don''t. No middle ground. One thing that has helped the workouts TREMENDOUSLY is my Ipod!!! Even my hubby who was a die hard "I don''t need music, tv, whatever to work out to" has been borrowing MY IPOD and has been running/working out longer. He loves it (and he''s getting his own)! My one suggestion to ANYBODY, get an Ipod Shuffle (<$100). It makes such a difference to work out to music that keeps ya going.

I eat well though; hubby and I are in to good food and good cooking. We just DON"T eat fast food...and when (if) we do, it''s disgusting and a last resort. We enjoy cooking gourmet meals. It''s a fun activity for both of us to do together and since we live in Germany right now...well...their cuisine is NOT so great...so we have to cook! Well, actually we travel most of our free time so we get to enjoy many a good, cultural meal that we don''t get back in the States. That''s our reward for being good...all of our travels and the good food and beer and wine.

Keep up the good work ladies. It''s tough and I admire you all for your dedication (as I''m trying to unhinge my hip bone).
