wow i can''t believe there''s no workout thread yet! it''s 11am EST (8am here) and by now there are typically 10 responses or something going on.

in any case, i''m doing my typical morning thing, coffee and cereal. my arm feels much better now, but still not perfect, so i am debating trying class tonite and just leaving early as we get into the really brutal arm stuff, or just waiting til tomorrow for one last day? i''d walk my 2m then. so we''ll see...one way or the other i''ll do something.

for lunch i''m doing subway again, i''m on a bit of a kick there!! hehee.

how are you other gals doing after the weekend?!

Maybe it''s national non-workout day and I don''t know it, lol! Mara, if your arm is still bothering you maybe you should give it one more day of rest. It might be better for you in the long run to let it completely heal first.

I didn''t work out this weekend, but I ate pretty well. I''m going to the gym tonight for strength and cardio, then I''m making a healthy dinner for two and Monday will be over!!!

Morning ladies.

I had my trainer this morning and did a little less than 30 minutes of cardio beforehand. It was a light cardio since my shin splints were acting up. Dancing in high heals this weekend wasn''t so good for me after all!
I hate horribly all weekend since we were away and it was all preset meals. I tried to be good, but it wasn''t easy. I''m back on track today!
I weighed in on Friday and lost another 1.8 pounds. So, it''s a total of 11 pounds since the beginning of January. I''m on my way to losing the 17 pounds I want to by April, and then my total of 40 pounds. And finally, thankfully, my boyfriend noticed some weight loss. I was so happy!

Awww, Virginia, I am still keeping my head above water and trying to quit, yes! You should take a peek at the other thread, if you haven''t recently there is a nice note from someone who was being negative! How''s your BF doing?

Hey, I wonder if Stermag worked out today or if she''s taking the day off to keep staring at her new bling, lol!

Well, I''ve been absent from this thread for a while because I wasn''t able to work out all last week. I have chronic stomach problems that trouble me on and off, and last week I was hurting pretty badly. So, I decided to give it a rest, and I feel pretty good today so far, so hopefully I will get a great workout in tonight.

On a good note, I helped the hubby out over the weekend with renovating a property we own, and I felt like I got a good workout in. It''s amazing how physical labor is so intense, that even without the cardio, I feel like I did something.

Virginia and Amanda, even if your workouts didn''t go great, at least you got them in this morning. Oh how I wish I could work out in the mornings, but it''s just logistically impossible. I hope everyone else who works out tonight has a great workout!

Good Afternoon Virtual Workout Buddies...

I''m falling behind on Pricescope, and really need to catch up. It''s nearly 2 o''clock and it''s my first time really stopping by the forums. It''s been a hectic day. We came home very late last night, I didn''t get enough sleep and this morning I had to rush just to make it to the gym on time. I hadn''t packed any lunch, I barely had clothes to change into after showering...

Last week we pushed ourselves on the track, so this week we decided to swap running days with weight days (so that we run twice and have three weights sessions as opposed to the other way around).

Things were going well until at some point, while we were doing squats, some guy walked up to us and asked what we were doing. "Squats!" I told him... and he proceeded to tell us how we''re doing it "all wrong", how we''re going down too far and how we''re supposed to just make a 90 degree angle with our legs without actually having the hamstrings make contact with the calves. This seemed like rubbish to me but he continued to explain how going down all the way is bad for the knees, etc... He was generally condescending and seemed annoyed, not at all helpful or wanting to instruct, just criticizing.... I tried to follow his logic by asking some clarifying questions (i.e. "but isn''t the point to go through the full range of motion?", "isn''t running hard on the knees as well, but it doesn''t mean we shouldn''t do it")...

Anyway, he insisted that he was right... and finished by saying "Well, whatever, I''m telling you you''re going down too low for a girl!"

What?

"...for a girl?"

I asked what the hell that meant, but he just walked away. Needless to say, that put us in a bad mood and we didn''t much feel like working out afterwards. When I got back to my desk, I promptly researched the proper squat technique and lo and behold.... you DO make your hamstrings and calves touch!

Aaaaaaaanyway, my boyfriend was outraged that someone would dare dispense such poor advice. I might have to bring him to the gym with me next time to set the dude straight :).

I swear it''s like my arm knows when I am thinking of going back to working out because it has been hurting me all morning. After days of feeling fine and I did housework all weekend with it. DIE ARM DIE. I am seriously so over it!

Oh and Stermag..our trainer in kbox does not like for us to do squats so low either..basically he says the same thing re 90 degree angle, you can go a bit lower than that if you want, but you should be SITTING like you are in a really low chair to work the right muscles apparently, also back must be kept straight, no sticking the butt out. I had never heard the whole calves touching hamstring thing, sounds painful.

All I know is it burns regardless of how low I go, so it works. ehhee.

i had such a busy weekend -- no exercise. but i''m back to the gym today. also had a very bad eating saturday...so we''ll see the damage

Good afternoon everyone.

Stermag, my strength coach doesn''t really want us going below a 90 degree angle, but I''m not really sure why. (I just do what he tells me.) I think he''s said that allowing our knees to get in front of our toes while squatting is bad for them, but it sounds like you''re following the advice about pretending that you''re sitting in a chair. I don''t think it should do that in that case.

The "for a girl" comment is infuriating! What the heck?

Even better than having your fiance set the guy straight would be to have a female body-builder, boxer, or someone along those lines do it. I''d love to see that happen.

Oh, and I swam laps and aquajogged for about 45 min this morning.
