So yesterday did not go quite as I had imagined it. I ended up spending the entire day on my feet, I went to the game where standing and screaming is a must. But I thought the rest of the day would be me studying….WRONG. Then we went to the more volleyball games and then shopping for hours. FOR SHOES? Which it turns out were not going to be bought on this trip anyway so why did we spend four hours clomping through the Galleria searching for them? I had my pedometer on I walked six miles on the single day I was going to give myself as time to recovery my poor little feet.
A friend of mine thinks it might have something to do with a pedicure I got just before school. I am borderline diabetic, and sometimes I have trouble feeling my hands and feet. The girl I went with thinks it might have been that when I was reading (I always bring textbooks if I get someone else to do it) that she might have used a “foot scrapper” on my soles and that is why they have been so prone to blistering and then bleeding since then. I am not sure if that is even possible. Sounds far fetched to me, but at the same time re-enforces my desire to do my own nails.
I do have some good news though. I am going home on the 13th or 14th and my parents (DR) are going to look at my feet and if I need to take me to see someone who specializes. Because earlier in the summer I had some issues as well. So I am not going to be jogging much, if any, until then because my foot moves differently and I need to be able to move about. I also think I will be laying of the heels and if I have to I will drive to class…
I cannot tell ya’ll how grateful I am to have had someone agree that my feet acting like this was not normal. That’s why I called my parents and now something with someone more informed about such issues then myself will be looking at it.
Oh! And for anyone who is interested, I have been using a set of weight exercises from home that I found here. I think you would need the ankle weights to do the leg ones for the arm ones free weights could be used IMO. If anyone else has a similar link I would love to see it!

Haven''t worked out very much for the past few weeks. Work has been brutal!

As it turned out, it was near impossible to get a trainer at my gym that was available when I am. I tried other trainer options, but nothing panned out. Just as well, though, because my work schedule will probably be crazy til the middle of October. I am at work now and I feel sick. I pigged out on stupid junk in the office food vender that I never normally eat. yuck

Mata- I am so sorry to hear about your foot situation!! I think some lotions also slough off skin. And a few creams (mostly prescription I think), may contain steroids that can thin skin. Did they do anything to you besides use a foot scraper?

I went to kickboxing yesterday morning and ate okay yesterday. Today we went to a bluegrass brunch and I had biscuits and gravy, not the wisest of choices, but it is the weekend. This afternoon I am off tot he gym and low and behold my bf wants to come with me. He joined my gym in Feb and hasnt been since he rolled his ankle in March. I have a feeling the engagement pictures we just scheduled may have something to do with it. Not that he needs it.

Mata,
I hope they figure out what is wrong with your foot. That certainly isnt something to play around with. Will pray it heals soon!

Buena Girl-I dont know, they girl I went with said sometimes they use little Dremel tools on people but I would think I would have missed that, I mean I have trouble feeling my feet at times but I dont think I am that bad.

However I have learned the value of asking...I found out that the terricloth fluffier type socks are much more likely to give you blisters as are the ones with sewn seams at the end of the toe portion. I also found out that wearing cross trainers, or running shoes when doing serious walking is bad for your feet, knees and hip joints. Oops.

So today I wore these little thin socks my mother bought me from Target a while back becuase they were antimicrobial and they are very thin and did move move on my foot as I walked. Today I formed NO new blisters on only one of the ones on my right foot bleed. I am so happy I cant even say. I think the real diffrence was the shoes I had on. I bought a pair of Nike Air Impel walking shoes, they are just for walking and actually feel fairly diffrent when tried on. But I was able to go 10.86 miles with out stopping and my feet were not screaming at me when I was done!

I am thinking that I am might be able to even more everyday! Wouldnt that be fabulous?

Shoes are huge for walking...I only do max 2 miles every other day so I can actually walk in flip-flops..not the best for your BACK..but my feet don't hurt. If I was doing 10m a day, you'd be sure I'd be buying some walking shoes, so glad you did!! Oh and re: the pedicures, they can use a variety of things to scrape your heels...one is a metal scraper that cuts off the skin (I've read that is bad for creating extra callouses since essentially they are cutting dead skin off leading your body to want to regrow the old skin (who knows if its true)); then there is that electric tool they use to file down fake nails..my place just started using it on feet too (special ones) which actually is not that bad feeling wise and tickles alot less; or the old fashioned scrubby aka pumicey stone type way which sometimes I request they use on me because my heels can get too sensitive if they take off too much skin. Depends on how I feel at the time or if I daydream and oops it's too late. But I have never had problems after with my feet, though I have no idea re: diabetic. I'd definitely ask a DR. But the shoes and socks themselves may take away the problem!

We are dogsitting our friend's hyper jack this weekend, we went for ~1m walk yesterday and today we are talking about going to the park later to do ~2m with the dogs after it cools off..so we'll see. Eating wise, weekends are free but I'm actually not doing too bad, surprisingly...oh if you don't count the YUMMI cheeseburger and cheese bacon fries with ranch, chives and sour cream that we had on Friday night at St. Johns...SO GOOD.

Greg is making us homemade spaghetti tonite, yumm!

Tomorrow it's back to salads and fish/chicken though! Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone.

Sorry about your feet, Matatora. Hope you get some help for them!

Today I ran a 5 mile race, the Navy Birthday 5 miler. It was my first 5 miler, so I just ran for a finish. I think I actually like it better than a 5k, which to me is too much of an all out sprint.

Yesterday I also walked a 5k (another Navy race). I did an average of right under 14 minutes per mile and today my shin muscles are super sore! Sammy the Sea Otter was there to cheer us on. Too funny!

Just finished up a 30minute weights routine for my arms. They are a part of my body that really needs firming as well as shrinking. I looked up lunges in the health/sports training part of the library. I am not sure which of the ways to do them with weights was correct. I am going to try all three and see which makes my legs feel diffrent. The tornados ought to have passed soon and I will walk again...I am hoping for good things tommorow morning!

LS- You are amazing!!!! Wow two five-mile events in two days! That is just fantastic! I hope your shins feel better soon.

Well I went 6.71 miles. I got caught in the storm I thought the aftermath from Rita had passed bit it was just that half way point. I was hanging out under the astrology building waiting for it to pass....I live such an excitng life.
