Hi ladies! I hope that everybody else is doing well today.

I swam laps for about 38 minutes this morning and 33 minutes yesterday. The pool closes to the general public at 8 am (so that they can have swimming and lifeguarding classes), so I just swim however much I''m able to get in before then.

I keep having the goal of going to bed at 11 each night, so that getting up a little before 7 doesn''t make me so sleepy. I keep staying up until 1 or 1:30 without realizing it. Does anyone have suggestions on how to make myself go to bed earlier?

Blenheim, great job on the swimming! I have the problem of going to sleep too late also. I have just started working out in the mornings (this is my 2nd week) so it''s been an adjustment. Last night, went to sleep around 12 and woke up about 6:30. I was pretty tired working out but so glad I did. I did a shorter tape this morning but i''m ok w/that since my back hasn''t been feeling too good lately.
As far as suggestions, not sure I have any. I know that after a couple days of staying up late and waking up early, my body takes over and I just can''t stay awake past 10-11. I would try to go lay down earlier, that way you''re not up walking around or on the computer or anything that might take away your focus from rest and sleep. Even if it takes you longer to fall asleep, you''ll still be more rested. I''ve heard you''re not supposed to do anything before going to sleep, like read or watch tv but those are some of my bad habits. Maybe take a soothing bath to relax you or just force yourself to stop whatever you''re doing and lay there. Sooner or later, your body will take over and you will fall asleep. Good luck!

Morning ladies!

I did 60 minutes of cardio today -- 30 minutes walking on the treadmill at an incline and 30 minutes on the stairmaster. I was so red and sweaty that I must have lost a lot of water weight just in this workout alone!

I have major sleeping issues, so I can''t really give any advice. Try to go to sleep but if you can''t, get out of bed and do something else. You don''t want to associate your bed with anything but sleeping and sex. That was one of the first things I was advised when my sleeping problems arose.

Had a poopy run this morning - we were running late and by the time we started running, we had only enough time to do 2 miles (an early meeting this morning).

In terms of going to sleep earlier - I got into my current rhythm of going to sleep ~10:30-11pm during a week when I wasn''t feeling well. I had to take decongestants at night because my nose was so stuffed up I couldn''t breathe, and the pharmacist suggested that I take a couple Benadryl tablets to counter the effect of the decongestants (which would normally keep me up). The Benadryl did wonders and I slept through the night each time. Once I started to feel better, I found that I was used to going to bed early and looked forward to falling asleep.

I''m not saying drug yourself, but if you''re really having a difficult time, one Benadryl for a couple of nights isn''t going to hurt.

Stermag....where does your cat''s ears go in that melon hat?

Good day! Everyone seems to be doing great with their exercise!! I did about 40 intense minutes on the elliptical yesterday and it was great for my shins -- no running = no pain. So i''m hoping i''ll be able to grab an elliptical machine this evening. It''s odd how competitive i get with myself. because those machines have the statistics of distance/calories and i only have a limited time to workout, i try to go a little faster/harder/longer each time. then i feel like i''m maximizing my time...even on the days i''m really dragging - if i can get past the first 7 minutes of a workout i get totally into it...my ipod definately helps

sleeping: hmmm. it''s hard to force yourself to sleep. during the week days i have to be up at 6:30 (thank goodness the days are getting longer and it''s not so cold and dark in the mornings anymore) so i go to bed between 10:30-11pm. But, i''m also not a night owl. my fiancee on the other hand is much more of one and just can''t go to bed at 10:30...however, i do find that reading in bed helps me to fall asleep if i''m having trouble.

we always mean to get to sleep at around 11 but typically it''s more like midnight. it doesn''t bother me but poor Greg gets up anywhere between 5:30 and 7 most mornings during the week so it''s harder on him to only get 5-6 hours of sleep, because i tend to sleep in til around 8:30 most mornings....i work from home 1/2 the time anyway and i work when my clients are at work which is typically not til 9-10!

i really LOVE sleep and being in bed, i wish i could do more of it...hahaha....i am all about cozy, comfy bed to the max, so our bed always has either really soft sheets on them (aka washed a thousand time sateen 500 thread count types) or flannels (soo comfy during the winter) and it has the full on down blanket, down comforter, down featherbed going on. it''s like resting in a cloud. poor Greg likes a harder bed so he is always complaining about how soft the bed is....i did buy him a special pillow for his neck!

anyway on a workout/eating thing...i''ve been pretty good, did 2.5 miles yesterday and boy was my BUTT sore after, i think it''s cumulative so that''s good. today i may do another 2 miles here around the park at home but nothing too stressful, i don''t want to overdo it then hurt my leg or something and then i will really be SOL with a hurt leg AND arm. my eating has been quite good, i''m happy to say...so i''m still firmly on track! but this weekend will be a doozy, i have dinner out with the girls on friday, then we''re doing dinner out with some friends on sat night and then sunday night a sorpanos thing at my friends house where we will most likely be gorging on italian food. oh well weekends are free. just another reason to be really good during the week!

everyone sounds like they are doing GREAT! congrats ladies.

Blod, it''s not really my cat, so I have not a clue. ;) I just like the inherent contradiction in the photo: a soft, cute, cuddly kitten in a helmet and with a face ready for battle. heheh.

I''m late responding tonight, but just got back from the gym. I did my 3 miles & cut my time down by 2 minutes! Whoo! I also did some abs! Gotta head off to bed!
