Yay, it''s Thursday! I know I shouldn''t look fwd to every weekend quite so much, but I just can''t help myself. This has been a long week. A pretty good week but still very busy at work. But now to the important stuff
21.gif
, I got in my 4th workout this morning. It was a push to workout, but i''m glad I did. One more day for me. I ate pretty good yesterday and started this morning off w/a bowl of Raisin Bran Crunch. That was pretty good!

I wish I had some bigger, better news to report but nothing new here...

Last night I fell down the stairs!!! I slipped and went boom boom boom down about 6 steps until I crashed at the bottom, screaming! My BF came running down the stairs and once we realized nothing was broken, just VERY bruised, he said "You''ll do anything to get out of going to the gym, won''t you!"

He got me an ice pack and I said "You can still go!" but he realized it was his out too so he said "No, I need to stay here and take care of you!" I said "good, you can make dinner!"

So now, I''m working from home again, not on a telecommuting day... but I''m in bed with icepacks and my laptop. And OBVIOUSLY getting a lot done, eh?

I''d say it will be a few days before I''m back at the gym...

Oh, Sumbride! I''m so sorry! I hope that you feel a lot better.

I also had a stupid mishap last night. BF and I were eating soup in our laps while watching Arrested Development. Mine was at the stage when it was too hot to eat, so I just let it sit there. And then I spilled it. I shot up and started screaming and had my pants off like that. There were red marks on my thighs, and I can still feel it today. Ugh.

I swam laps for 30 minutes this morning.

The weight loss tips thread was also pretty inspiring. I''ve decided to watch what I''m eating more. It''s something that I''m not really used to doing. I haven''t gained weight since I''ve stopped running 35-40 mile weeks, but I have lost muscle and gained a little bit of a belly. Since I''m going to have to stop exercising completely sometime soon (surgery), I need to start watching what I eat.

Oh Blenheim.... OW OW OW!!! We''re on quite a roll, aren''t we?

Perhaps this daily workout thread will get me motivated to go to the gym more often. Ahh.... but TSU''s gym is soooooo boring I want to scream... there''s a television there, and it''s always on either golf or a soap opera. Those are like the only two channels that tv can get. And since my school''s gym is also open to the public, there are weird middle-aged men in there soemtimes. Very good reasons for me to not make it to the gym.

Today I did 20 minutes on the elliptical machine and 5 min doing crunches, a good start for me. I''m hoping to make it there at least three times a week. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11 seem not very busy, perhaps I''ll make a habit of it. Oh, and Saturday mornings too.

Good afternoon ladies.

all i can say is ouch! i hope that all the burns and bruises heal quickly...

I went to the gym yesterday and did the elliptical for 30 minutes. for some reason, i''ve shortened my workouts this week, but kept the intensity high. I opted for a night off from pilates.

Tonight I''m going to a pub to watch some basketball, but after a quick trip to the gym-- Duke! Duke!

Maybe yesterday was just a bad day - I bruised the back of my knee quite badly, it''s purple, red and yellow - yuck.

We postponed this morning''s workout because of a work meeting but are going this afternoon. I can''t say I''m looking forward. I much prefer working out in the am.

It''s a day of strength training which is somewhat easier for me than running, but still.. only half past noon and I''m already pooped - this doesn''t bode well.

yikes you girls were definitely having a mishap day yesterday, maybe its good i didn''t work out or something woulda happened to me too!

one comment re: boring gyms etc...i am so much more motivated now that i have my ipod shuffle with music loaded at any time i decide to just go work out. i don''t need the big fat ipod with the navigational system, the shuffle is perfect and tiny and it just plays and goes. i love listening to my fave tunes while walking or whatever. so if your gym is super boring, get some good music!! it helps..definitely.

i didn''t work out yesterday to give myself a rest, and now i''ve got cramps, so i end up feeling very blah and couch-ridden for a few days...but if i feel better this evening i am going to try to go do some walking this afternoon so i can at least stretch my legs, and it''s finally a nice day out!!

Mara -

I''ve been thinking about getting a shuffle. Which one do you have? My BF gave me the 60 gig video for Christmas and I LOOOOOOVVVVEEE it, but I would so hate to drop it on the treadmill. I was thinking it might be worth it to get the tiny one for the gym, but I can''t decide which one.

sum

i just have the 512mb so if you do get one i would get the 1GB, as i already loaded up the 512mb one with about 200 songs or so, and it''s enough for a few hours of play, but after a week i kind of have to mix it up and add new ones in and stuff so i don''t get too bored. but it''s so easy to use, and if i don''t like a song i just hit the ffwd button and that''s it. sometimes i listen to songs over again, i''m so silly that way. i only keep stuff that i know i want to listen to while working out on there.

I am totally joining this thread. I am de-motivated right now! But, I have my gym bag here at work, so I am GOING after I get done!!

I have a iPod Shuffle, too, I love it. It''s so nice and light. Although, the last time I took it to the gym, I forgot that my BF had loaded some of his own songs on there for snowboarding! It was the first time I worked out to hard rock, that was interesting.

Sorry to hear about everyone''s injuries. Hopefully everything heals quickly and you can''t get out of working out for too long. I do love it when a good excuse comes up

, even though an injury isn''t much fun

.

Blenheim, was the weight loss tips thread a separate thread on PS? I am trying to be mindful of what I eat also. I know that pure exercise isn''t enough for me to lose, probably b/c I''ve already cut so many bad things out of my diet. But some days it can be tough to eat healthy. There are days I just want to eat a regular meal, w/o thinking about fat and calories. But I really, really want to lose weight and quite a bit at that, so i''m trying hard to maintain the exercise and good eating.

perfect, thanks!!! the 1 gig is only $30 more and I agree that it would be annoying to have to keep changing it around. I have aworkout playlist on my video, but it''s heavy & fragile. BF just bought oone for himself but I asked him to wait until he got a case for it before he used it, so it''s still in the bag from the apple store. He''ll be even more annoyed when he realizes it''s too bulky for the gym!!!

Mara, I, too, have a Shuffle, although most of the time I forget to reload different songs on it... subsequently, I''ve been running to the same 20 or so tunes for the past three months. Interestingly enough, after all this time I''ve gotten to the point where... if I hear the songs I run to on the radio or somewhere else, I feel like running... :)

I see this as a bonus. The songs I run to have now become motivators of sort.

haha yeah i know what you mean sterm, i haven''t switched mine out in a week and i am getting used to finding the songs i like and just listening to those...my current fave is..get ready for this FOOTLOOSE. yes from the movie. it''s sooooo snappy and it makes me feel like dancing. i can actually feel my feet move faster when i walk listening to it. one day i listened to it FIVE TIMES in a row. it''s a sickness!

I have footloose on mine too!

my current fave is Hey Ya! because the "shake it!" part makes me do just that!

Amy,

Someone started a thread asking for weight-loss tips in the Hangout section, wanting to lose the weight she gained during pregnancy. People had a lot of helpful ideas. And actually, Mara referred her to this thread!

Mara, worry not... during my last run, I had Michael Jackson''s "Smooth Criminal" on 6-7 times! :)

Most of the time, I run to Oakenfold and other trance... but Smooth Criminal works wonders

Ok, now I think I may have to get some more memory for my little mp3 player so it can hold more than 6-7 songs.

So.....what are other favorite workout songs?

OOH Smooth Criminal is a good one!!! I''ll have to download that one.

One of my other faves is MJ''s ''Burn this Disco Out''...

I also love ''Hey Ya'' and the one by Nelly about taking your clothes off, it''s nice and fast and rythymy.

Oh and Gwen Stefani''s song...''What Are You Waiting For''...GREAT song for quick movin''!

Also, I love Black Box..they have alot of great energetic songs like ''Everybody Everybody'' and I have a mixed CD by them that has tons of remixes of their songs.

Oh and of course a classic, Salt n''Pepa...''PUSH IT''!!

hmm, favorite workout songs....
I don''t normally listen to this type of music, but the Black Eyed Peas "My Humps" and "Pump it" also "Check on it" (Destiny''s Child) make me wanna move

Ohmigod, Push It is the best workout song! How come I haven''t thought of it earlier!? Need to buy it, like, now.

On that note, a couple of tunes by the Gorillaz are great, particularly Feel Good Inc, from Demon Days - good rhythm for a good run.

We should really start a thread of best work out music. Being that I''ve been running with the same songs for the past three months, I can really use some inspiration.

Quick update on my newfound efforts to watch what I eat -- I only had one cookie today!! It seems like a pretty minor achievement, but I was in three situations where cookies were served, and sustained some pressure in one:

Someone: "Have a cookie."
Me: "I''m trying to reduce my daily cookie intake."
Someone: "Why would you do THAT!? Don''t you want to be happy?"

And soft chocolate chip cookies (and most baked goods that involve chocolate) are really my weakness.

food doesn't make people happy!!! it just is a temporary yummy taste on the tongue. hehehe.

you know what they say! a moment on the lips...

tonite we have wild rice and mushroom stuffed chicken from WF baking in the oven and then MY weakness leftover from last nite, the rest of the banana cheesecake from cheesecake factory. it's 1/2 so thank goodness greg is sharing it with me. hahaha.

i did some arm weights then i walked 1.5 miles outside, it was pretty windy and i was feeling fairly blah so the cheesecake should cheer me up.

I don''t know where I heard it before, but someone once said to me "nothing tastes as good as being in shape feels!".

I liked that.
