well since no one else started it, i guess i will!!

not much to report though... thinking about going to kboxing class tonite but don't want to overdo the arm now that it is feeling better so we'll see. walked 2-2.5 miles last nite...but then had leftover baked rigatoni for dinner, hee hee. actually there wasn't enough left to be a full portion and i had a banana as well. but all in all i think my calories were still where i am trying to keep them for the daily intake ~1700-1800.

tried on the bikini and it's looking pretty good, which is definitely positive and indicative that i am still doing the right things. so just gotta keep plugging away, i feel like i am very close but haven't i been saying that for months now? when do you really feel like you are THERE?

oh and on an odd note, my rings have been feeling much more loose lately, in the last 3-4 weeks, leading me to wonder if i have not lost a tiny bit of weight in my fingers? i can actually put my rings on my right hand ring finger which i haven't been able to really ever do..they are tighter and not super comfortable, but that finger used to be a size 7 and my left side ring finger is a 6. so it seems like something has changed if i can get the rings onto the right hand and it used to be a whole size larger. so not sure if the fingers are changing back or what, which kind of freaks me out since i don't want super loose rings banging around, esp now that i have my new stone i am more worried.

and i don't like sizing beads.

Well, I forced myself to work out this morning so i''ve completed 3 days this week. Boy do I wish I was done for the week. My motivation has been so low this week. I am really not enjoying the morning workouts these days but trying to keep doing them. I just wish I liked working out a little bit more but know that i''m only doing it b/c I need to, not b/c I want to. What a pain! Anyway, my eating''s been ok although I had some pasta last night too. My son loves noodles w/cheese and tuna and so do I! I try to make it rarely and recently have been doing mainly mozz. cheese rather than mainly cheddar or jack. I think that helps but I know it''s still pretty bad. It did taste good though!
Next week I will start the next phase of the running program. I''m kind of excited. I have to read the site to see what it consists of.

Mara, probably makes sense not to do too much so that your arm doesn''t get aggravated. Do you think the arm issues will ever completely go away or something you''ll have to keep in mind long term? Having an injury is no fun.
That is interesting about the ring sizes. Too bad it''s always easier to lose in places we have no desire to lose from!

Sarfar, good job yesterday! Sounds like you''re doing well.

Have a good afternoon.

hah well dixie i'd love smaller fingers to make the rock look bigger BUT not when i have eternity bands that can't be sized down. about 6 months after the wedding the two rings were too tight so i had them shave out a tiny bit of metal from the insides to make them more comfortable and they have been fine (loose in winter but fine in summer) til now. oh well, thank goodness my knuckles are kind of big so it's like a 'stopper' for the rings, but they clink more than they used to. i'm glad i don't have shared prong or else those diamonds would so be eating each other up right about now from all the rubbing of the rings on each other.

in terms of the arm thing...my massage gal was saying that the deltoid muscle takes a really long time to heal and from what i was showing her that is what she thought it was. aka a torn muscle or something. so she said that it would not be unheard of for it to take a few months to heal...especially if i keep using it. previously i had a pec injury and i stopped kickboxing for 6 months and it was totally healed after that. talk about a pain though to have to give something up for that long! that is what i was trying to prevent here. but the arm is definitely getting better because when i went to class on monday it hurt just a little that night, and then the next day it was fine. so i don't want to overdo it but want to keep working it out so it doesn't atrophy and fall off! so we'll see...i'm thinking maybe i just will go to the park near my office later and do 3 miles and call it a day. and do some light weights at home for the arm.

Well, I know it''s Friday, but I''m still posting on the Thursday thread. I did my running last night, and I feel pretty good. I got 3 workouts in this week, and I even felt good. I think I ran over 2 miles, but I don''t know the exact mileage since I ran around my neighborhood and I''ve never measured it. I like the feeling of getting back in shape again. I still can''t do the weights yet, but probably in another month I''ll be able to do that.

Also, Mara, I know what you mean about your rings getting loose. I''ve lost some weight, and my rings just spin and spin on my finger. It drives me crazy, but like you, my w-ring is eternity and it can''t be sized. My e-ring can be sized, but I just had it sized up a quarter of a size, and I don''t want to get it resized again already. I''m not sure what we can do about this problem we''re having. Probably if your rings get too loose you will have to get sizing beads put in.

I hope everyone''s workouts go well today. I think I''m taking the day off. I want to get 4 workouts in next week.

Maybe we should do a weekly workout thread for the summer months?

I''ve been a bad girl the past couple days...but yesterday I realized I only have ~5 weeks left until our vacation during which I''ll be wearing a two piece swimsuit. Hmm, I guess that means crunch time for me, literally! I''m still quite a ways from where I''d like to be so i better get crackin'', LOL!

Strangely enough, although my weight has fluctuated quite a bit since I got married, I don''t feel like my finger size has ever changed. I can only tell a difference when my hands are warm/swollen in the mornings and summer, or in winter when they''re cold. What I have always noticed is my watchband either being a bit loose or a bit tight! Funny, the two body parts are so close to each other, but one is noticeable to me and the other is not. Hmm.

The weekly thread is a good idea Monarch, do we want to start that up next week. Also I think it'd be great because then if we post educational information or links or stuff like we do sometimes, it stays up for people to see longer than just a day.

Isn't it funny re: losing weight in odd places? I mean SURE I want a smaller finger. but not now!! hehee. The interesting thing is that yesterday afternoon my fingers were swollen and the rings were tight. So go figure. But that happens really rarely and I don't even know why they were swollen. They were normal again within a few hours.

I can tell I have been losing a bit of weight in my arms because things like my Juicy hoodies suddenly have the sleeves just a little longer out onto my hands/wrists. Which is cool. But that stomach area is STILL the bane of my existence. I mean sure it looks okay in clothes and all and it's definitely pretty flat, but I am kind of despairing I will ever have that sculpted look around the midsection no matter how much I cut back on carbs or do crunches. Blame it on genes!?

Last nite I didn't walk at all as my leg has been oddly sore since my workout on Monday...so wanted to give it a rest and we had chicken kebabs and rice from this local yummy Persian place for dinner which was pretty healthy. They use some butter on the rice but she said hardly any. Oh but then there was the small 1x1 square of baklava I had after.

Couldn't have been THAT bad. Calories seem to be still on track for the most part. It's becoming easier to track them and monitor them now that I am more used to using fitday.com.

I also cut out one big breakfast on the weekends, for a while there we were having a big Sundayish breakfast on Sat and Sunday...but now on Sat we just have the same thing as during the week, aka cereal and coffee...so I think that will help.

I was reading something online and it mentioned something about if you just want to cut back a little on calories, to make small changes like that and add one more workout a week and you should see SOME changes because if you keep everything the same -200-300 calories -another 100-300 calories for a workout then you are creating a deficit automatically by just changing small things. So, kind of interesting!!

Have a good weekend ladies, don't eat too many hot dogs on Memorial Day

Congrats Coda on getting back into the swing of things! LOL Monarch re the bikini, I try my new VS one on every week and so far it just looks better each time which is positive news. I try to remember that on the days I feel like chowing down on the whole pantry.

Good afternoon ladies! Sounds like everyone is doing very well.

Congrats on getting back to working out Coda- I''m sure you''ll be 100% very soon!

I did a pilates video last night. It was pretty good- I could definitely feel the burn and today I feel tight but not sore in my ab area. There were a couple of moves my body just would not do so I tried to improvise. I''m going to aim to do the video two days a week and walk at least a mile the other days. I think that''s pretty reasonable. I''d also like to get some 5-10 lb. free weights- my fiance has 20 lbers but I am just not that strong!

I''d really like to get my legs a little more sculpted, especially in the thigh area. I''ve noticed some days that people have posted that they did leg exercises- could y''all tell me what they were? Until I get a gym membership it''d be good to have some leg exercises to do at home.

Have a great long (I hope you have Monday off!) weekend!

sarah i use 5 lbs for my arms...i do about 3 reps of about 5 exercises which seems to be helping as well as pushups and kickboxing arm workouts.

in terms of leg exercises, i have posted some about air kicks recently that have really helped sculpt my upper thighs, you can find them in old workout threads...not sure which ones.

also im sure you are familiar with the one where you are on hands and knees and raise the leg to do kicks that way, go side kicks, then back kicks then kicks where you push your leg up at a bent angle, do about 30 of these (side, back, up) on each leg for the max glut and leg burn.

i found that the key to seeing results for things like that is consistency...do those 3x a week and you will see results combined with better diet, exercise etc. good luck!!

Thanks for the info Mara- I''m trying to put together a weekly routine for myself so I can continue working out into the summer. I definitely want to work on my arms- they are about as useful as wet noodles. And leg workouts are always nice as it is skirt season- finally!

Can I join a few days late? lol I finally went onto fitday today after reading your posts and I am so surprised by the foods I''ve been eating. I take in about 3500 calories p/d. Mara, how do you eat only 1800? Wow. Anyway, does anyone know how to find how many cals u should burn in order to meet ur goal? Thanks in advance.
