Somehow I doubt today is going to be much for exercising. I have class all day and then have to drive to GA tonight. I am going to bring my weights with me and I am hoping to be able to keep up my 11 mile min outside of driving days. I am even bringing my own food with me so I am not overly tempted. Hopefull this will be a good weekend for weight loss.

good luck!

today wasn''t so hot for me either. i did go to the gym.. but didn''t do to much. a little weights and a little treadmill. shame on me. i will go tomorrow and do better.

Bringing your own food with you is a great idea, Matadora. I would never have the will power to do that.

I didn''t exercise this morning. I was pretty sure I wasn''t going to but I was so tired when the alarm went off and my back and hamstrings are sore from yesterday.

I had a bit of a shock this morning during breakfast. I bought some healthy, high-fiber, tastes kind of like cardboard cereal. It''s only 120 calories per serving. As I was pouring my bowl, I looked at the serving size, not really thinking of it since I figure a bowl of cereal is basically the same as a serving. Then I look and see that the box has nine servings in it. I finished the box this morning and it was only my third serving! I have been eating three times as many calories as I though!!! I really don''t want to have to start literally measuring my food, but I guess that''s what''s going to have to happen.

Last night I was okay with dinner. My bf and I ordered two appitizers and I had less than half of each (they were small to begin with) and then I ordered salmon instead of the steak I really wanted. I only ate about two-thirds of it. However, I did have three glasses of wine. The alchohol thing is going to really be a problem!

Tonight my bf has a business dinner so I''m on my own. I''m hoping to control myself, which is a rarity when he''s not home... I just feel like no one''s watching so I should go all out... so bad. But, I have my trainer tomorrow morning so it will be lots of sweat then!

I have the day off and I made myself a yummy frittata no toast this morning, but I have yet to make it to the gym. Why cant I get off the computer????

My boyfriends mom is meeting us in Milwaukee tomorrow for a wedding, and I really hope I can eat half way decent. But for now I should worry about cleaning the house, as she will be coming down here for two days.

Matatora, you really do have willpower, I would never attempt bringing food with me, mainly because I wouldnt eat it. So stick with your plan! You really can do it!

Yesterday I did the elliptical for 30 minutes so that I could watch the Oprah Hurricane Katrina episode.

Today is my rest day. I''m not going to the gym, so I''m trying to be good in the eating department. So far this morning I''ve had a low-carb english muffin with light cream cheese. I''m planning to go to lunch with a co-worker where I''ll be ordering blackened halibut with grilled vegetables. My downfall will be dinner and after dinner. I have a bunco game with some ladies tonight, and the host usually provides irrisitable finger-foods...and alcohol. I normally get home after work, cook something simple for the kids and hubby, then head off to bunco at 7PM. We all sit, drink and eat while playing Bunco (a dice game in case anyone was wondering). I usually eat some dinner at home, but still manage to eat a ton of finger-foods afterwards

mrsflutter, yumm frittata!!

if anyone is interested, in all my US Weekly''s when they talk about celebrities and what they eat while they are training for a movie or similar with personal trainers. the diets are all very similar which is interesting. here''s some of the stuff they talk about alot in case anyone wants to try it or see if anything sounds interesting:

morning:
egg white omelette with oatmeal mixed in OR
oatmeal with fruit OR granola with berries/yogurt

snack:
veggie sticks with peanut butter
OR handful of nuts

lunch:
mixed greens with chicken OR
turkey pita OR tuna salad (no mayo!)

dinner:
grilled fish and veggies OR
grilled chicken and mixed greens

Not SUPER exciting huh? I think the key is finding things you LIKE to eat that are healthy so you don''t feel like you can''t have what you want, aka Whole Foods has this salad that I am OBSESSED with. I have it about 4-5 times a week. It''s got gorgonzola cheese, candied walnuts, fresh cranberries, mixed greens and a vinaigrette dijon sauce. LOVE IT. It''s pretty healthy as well and gives me alot of roughage which is good.

It''s a big salad, I do eat more than typical portion sizes most likely but if I feel full from a ''meal'' then I am less likely to want to snack later. aka instead of 6 oz of fish for dinner, I get about 8 oz and I eat alot of veggies rather than a handful...because I''d rather eat a bit more than a portiion size than go HUNGRY or want to eat something ELSE to make up for it. So far that has been working okay. IMO if you eat bigger portions of things it''s BETTER that they are healthy yanno.

Mara, you are absolutely right about portion sizes. When I go too small on portion sizes the giant bag of m&ms my bf bought at costco seems much more appealing. (btw, I love that whole foods salad but they are pretty big!)

I just got home from the gym I did 20 minutes of abs and back and 40 minutes on the eliptical, plus I rode my bike there and back. I just made one of those south beach diet whole wheat rollups and had some cottage cheese. Now i need to somehow clean the kitchen and do laundry without being tempted by chocolate or cookies. I wish we could just not have them in the house, but then what would my dear bf have for breakfast? I sometimes hate his metabolism.

I plan on a 4 mile run tonight while my husband plays tennis. I have a race on Sat., so I don''t want to do too much.

I ate pretty well, and this afternoon I ran (well, with a few walk breaks thrown in) 3 miles. Although I think I''ve got a cold...this afternoon before I worked out I was reallllly tired, congested, and starting to feel sore-throaty.

Any opinions/knowledge about working out during colds?

HOU...I actually feel better if I work out and am starting to feel sick, I have actually gotten a cold to shoo-fly by working out and not staying home...whereas if I stay home it seems like I end up nurturing the cold. Funny but that''s how my body works. Even if you are not 100% at least working up a sweat may burn the germ out!

I''m happy to report I finally went to kickboxing class tonite after a 3 month hiatus...I had hurt my knee and then pulled a pec muscle about 3 months ago (?) which is when I started walking alot because I couldn''t do more aerobic exercises...so I have been thinking about going back since I am now able to lift weights again without pec pain....funny but I made it through the class no problem and our instructor is a black belt who works us like dogs so I was pretty proud of myself! Not bad after 3 months off. I could also tell in the mirrors that I had lost weight from the last time I went to class, which felt positive because it always feels good to go back to something after a time off and not have GAINED weight while away!!

Sorry about the confusion from yesterday. I did not mean to say I was not seeing things change. I am getting smaller...or at least my waist is but the scale wont budge. It is frustrating. Sorry I PM some people on here and I forget not everyone has read those.
I am thinking I need to do more...I sweat during the day not much but some, and at night well it is not likely as I said in the other thread.
I am not sure how much I will be on PS for the next few days as I am out of town. Hope everyone is doing and continues to do well.

Matatora, I''m in your shoes. Since starting my workout regimen, I''ve not seen a drop on the scale at all, in fact, I went UP inititally about 3lbs, but I felt leaner and my clothes feel looser, so I attributed it to muscle weight. After my labor day weekend 5lbs increase fiasco, I''m just bummed because I know this instant 5 lbs is NOT from muscle. I think you''re doing fine, the weight is not peealing off as fast as you want, but I''m sure YOU feel better, and other people see the difference in your physique and energy level....just don''t invite them to your weigh-in sessions.

Update from Bunco night: Ladies, I have no self control.....I ate a light dinner of roast chicken and salad. The I went to Bunco, and proceeded to eat a full plate of tortilla chips with bean dip, several rounds of veggie crudite with ranch dip, and 3 pieces of lowfat "weight watcher''s cake". Even though it was weight-watcher''s it was delish!
