Morning everyone,
Sorry I missed posting yesterday but I took the day off.

It was very nice! I also worked out which I felt good about. I did a tape at home before going anywhere. So today will be my 3rd day. I go to the gym tonight. I decided to stop the running intervals, at least for this week due to my soreness, but Monday, I increased my incline. I want to keep increasing something, whatever that may be. I also keep using different workout tapes at home so I like all of the variety. I''m hoping that''s part of the reason that i''m losing. Really, I don''t care what the reason is, as long as it continues!!
It''s been kinda quiet on this thread lately.

Keep up the workouts and healthy eating! Today, I had 2 eggs for breakfast and brought a Lean Cuisine meal for lunch. Surprisingly, I actually like some of their meals.

Thanks to yet another breakdown on Metro''s red line, I missed my water aerobics class last night! I was so bummed... it''s only once a week and it''s so much fun! I think (if I make it next week!) that i''ll ask if she can move it to 7. There are only a few of us in the class... maybe if it was later more people could make it!

I did make it to the gym... spent 30 minutes on the bike, 15 on the elliptical, and 15 stretching and doing abs. It felt really good, but oh, I missed the pool! Think I''ll look silly splashing around by myself tonight? I know all the moves!

I''m working from home today so I''m doing my best to avoid the fridge, but at least there is no office candy dish here. The worst I could do is eat an extra string cheese!

Ran this morning - just a bit shy of 5 miles, but we had only 50 minutes and had to get back.

I still have a lot of work to do before the May run if I''m going to avoid getting picked up by the sag wagon.

I keep battling blisters on my feet and a couple on my shoulders from the bra. Today I tried a new one and it seems to have helped - we''ll see how it goes. I wish my fascia wasn''t so troublesome. I''m introducing some hill runs into my training and that seems to aggravate it the most. I might just see someone about this. Of course I''m not as religious as I should be about ice massages and stretching of the foot.

Anyway, hope everybody else is doing well. Virginia, are you back on the horse yet or still blinded by your diamond?

You guys are doing great! I must confess I''ve been absent the last week or so because my husband''s been out of town--if he''s not home to let the doggie out I have to go home right after work instead of going to the gym, so I haven''t been going as much as usual. I did do my Saturday walk with my group (6 miles), but as for the gym, I will be going back for the first time in a week tonight! I''ve managed to maintain my 5 pound weight loss, so that''s good...over the weekend I probably drank more calories than I should''ve, but oh well. I''m back on track this week, so hopefully I''ll have another 1-2 pound loss by Sunday.

good morning,

everyone sounds in better spirits than yesterday''s unmotivated thread. i''m feeling better for certain.

last night, i ran 3 miles on the treadmill, and likely could have gone further -- though i got a serious cramp/gas pain that made me hop right off that machine. by the time i got home my stomach was back to normal so i did pilates.

i''m really liking the combintation -- cardio seems so taxing on the body, i really get sweaty, winded, tired. but pilates is *almost* relaxing, especially if i focus on my breathing. plus, i feel the strength growing in my abs. in fact, i jthis morning i caught a bit of an infomercial this morning for an updated winsor DVD -- only 9 bucks -- so i got it. i figure a little variety can''t hurt and the price was so low. however, they are claiming that if you do the workout for 10 days you are guarenteed to lose one size. i personally think that is ridiculous! this is my third week doing the older 20 minute workout (about 3-4 times a week) and while i''m definately noticing a distinct improvement in strength, i really don''t think you can shrink a complete size that quickly. i think it''s a terrible marketing strategy, because it inflats people with unreasonable expectations. then when those expectations aren''t met, they are more likely to give up on the program -- which probably in the long run can really help their fitness.

anyway. moving along.

back to the gym tonight. perhaps a little ellipitcal is in store.

Lovelylulu,

I agree. The claim made by the pilates infomercial isn''t all that bad when you compare it to some others. I''ve seen an ad recently for some heated belt you put on your abdomen (or tighs or arms, whatever) and as it heats up, it makes you "sweat away the pounds".... They show a woman who is practically obese and she is turned into a lanky girl with a six pack... I mean COME ON! Sure, you might lose a little bit of water but definitely no fat!

And like you say, the claims are simply detrimental to the people who really need it the most and who desperately cling to any bit of hope.

There should be some law against advertising gimmicks that don''t work. If this country is serious about fighting obesity, it should first invest in educating its masses about what does and doesn''t work.

i can''t do pilates for 10 days straight, my stomach muscles would be like jello! i have to to take days off in between of exercises...which is recommended typically i think.

anyway, yesterday i did 1.5 miles in the rain so it wasn''t too much but the weather was nasty, however i had really bad shin splints most of the walk which was odd because i rarely get them and the last time i walked was sunday and i felt fine after! so i don''t know what i will do tonite. i also did arm weights last nite, because i feel like my arms are atropyhing... i may go workout tonite at kbox, we''ll see!!

the rain is soo depressing! finally it''s sunny again but who knows how long that will last.

Hi everyone! Last night, we went to the gym & I did my three miles, plus some ab work, stretching and some arms. I was feeling really tired and I got a bad cramp, but I am happpy that I finished.

Today is my birthday, so I''m not working out tonight. Instead I''m going shopping with my mom

. It should be fun!

Glad to see everyone is mostly back on the wagon!

It sounds like everybody''s in better spirits today! Even the girls I go to school with were in such "blah" moods yesterday. The weather was just so gloomy, which didn''t help at all.

I swam 30 minutes yesterday (I forget if I posted yesterday) and 30 minutes again today. My back''s getting worse, so I''m trying to be gentler and spend less time in the pool, in case that''s aggrevating it.

Stupid back.

Danielle,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Have a great day off and have fun shopping!

Monarch,
Have fun at the gym tonight. You sound motivated to get back in there so that''s great! Only one week away isn''t so bad.

I''ll be at the gym tonight too. I think i''ll do the elliptical since i''m not as sore. I''m actually feeling ok about working out these days. I don''t despise it quite as much as I used to.

It''s a little easier to force myself to work out and is more like part of a routine than an every day push to get there. The mornings really help me! I also like that I have a variety. I think it helps a lot b/c I get bored so quick. I just really need a good book or magazine b/c it''s hard to go the whole time at the gym w/nothing. I bought this fun wedding magazine last night but already read it. I just couldn''t help myself! I''m getting some great ideas though. I also bought a hole puncher so I can put some pic''s into a binder.
