Hi,

I''ve convinced my fiance to take dance lessons for our "first dance."

Who else has done this? Share your experiences please!

What dance did you do? What song?

We took private dance lessons since we both are a complete mess on the floor. It was definitely harder than we thought- we''d be sweating and huffing and puffing during practice. We danced to Josh Groban''s "When You Say You Love Me" and didn''t really have a particular type of dance. The instructor showed us several types of moves and then helped us incorporate them into our repetoire. While slightly terrifying, our first dance was actually fun!

I am actually the one who needs dance lessons. FI wants to dance a WALTZ for our first dance. UGH!!!! So I start next Monday. There will also be some salsa and tango thrown in so I''m excited about that.

Really, he wants our first dance to be a waltz! I didn''t ask my DJ before I booked him what kind of WALTZ selection he had in his repertoire!

What are the songs you PSers are using for your first dance? Can anyone recommend a waltz? LOL!

And also, what song are you using for your grand entrance with your wedding party? Is it the same as your first dance song or different?

My DJ recommended if I wanted to really start the party upon our arrival, to use "Paradise City" by Guns-n-Roses. That''s not going over well with FI, obviously he''s the classical music man. But I''m open to all suggestions to make an entrance and really, get the party started!

I totally want to do some kind of dance lessons- I think it will be fun and FI could totally use the help!

He''s a white boy with no rhythm! hehe

I am so jealous. I will have to TWIST FI's arm to take dance lessons with me (something I REALLY want to do). I figure since I am planning our wedding alone it is the least he can do, right?

We received dance lessons as a wedding present from my coworker who used to do competitive ballroom dance. We did a foxtrot to Nat King Cole''s (I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons, with lots of impressive looking but easy turns, spins, and footwork. During the actual dance, we forgot some of the moves, but everybody was impressed, and if I say so myself, we don''t look too shabby on the video!

TMI maybe, but being led around the dance floor by the man you love is a TOTAL turn-on.

How exciting! Dance lessons are so much fun! FI & I love to dance & have taken a few rounds of dance classes (basic 6 ballroom, Swing, Salsa...) but we probably won''t be able to use any of our skills at our wedding.

If we have music at all, it''ll be mento or reggae (DW in Jamaica) & I''m totally at a loss as to how to dance to this! I do ok when I know the steps, but I''m not so great at freestyle dancing.

As for first dances, this one might be cheesy, but "May I Have This Dance for the Rest of My Life" is a nice waltz. A lot of the old standards (40''s stuff, like the Nat King Cole number JCJD danced to) work well with a fox trot. "It Had to be You" would be a nice one.

JCJD, I totally agree with you....

We made the mistake of signing up for 8 lessons starting in March of ''03...the weather started getting really nice out and we caught spring fever instead of Saturday Night Fever and ended up dropping out after the first three lessons! It was so sad.

I think American Idol might''ve interfered with our wanting to go, also..hee hee. (lessons were on Tuesdays)

Instead of taking formal lessons we bought a video and taught ourselves. I believe it was called "wedding dancing" or something like that; I saw the ad in the back of a bridal magazine. We danced the fox trot to "The Way You Look Tonight" by Frank Sinatra for our first dance. Everyone thought we had taken lessons!

We signed up for dance lessons. Four group lessons and one private lessons for $99! Not bad!

I can''t wait!
