I yesterday posted the experience of visiting IDJ.
Today I got to visit two places
1. Via a friend one of the largest diamond manufacturers office in the city
2. David S jeweler
Manufacturer:
So I looked at probably 30 different diamonds today.
1. Looked at 2 carat diamonds in various color, normalized for other parameters as much as you - Color E to J. Looked at them in 3 different lighting conditions and various distances. When looking at them from table side up, I found it impossible to tell the difference, even when 3-4 grades apart.
2.Size difference was bigger than I expected Eg 2.5 carat J diamond looked meaningfully more impressive than F/2 carats
David S
1. If I hadn’t been a member of PS, he is probably on of the best jeweler you could visit - the guy makes you a prosumer
2.really illustrated how light path scope works: we tried a trick with a white business card and when you look through the scope, it looks red because it returns the light back. Then we punched a hole and you could see white light from underneath the card (basically leakage)
3. tried heart and arrow scope
4. did his blind tasting of color test: failed miserably. Picked I over F
overall another great experience. Those who know David know how much he obsesses over the optics quality of the diamond. Some images attached of us just playing around with various diamonds and scopes.
