I just wanted to take a minute to write about a very nice experience I had today with David Wolf, founder of Just Appraisers in NJ and NY (www.justappraisers.com)
I''m a newbie at this and just bought a diamond for an engagement ring (the subject of the "How awfully bad of a cut is this?" thread in Rocky Talk).
Having second thoughts about it, I contacted David to set up an appointment for an appraisal. Totally free of charge, he talked to me for a long time over the phone about the diamond''s measurements and about the price I''d paid for it and offered suggestions about working out a solution with the jeweler. He completely didn''t have to do all that he did, so I just wanted to thank him for it publicly.
I haven''t gone through the appraisal process yet, so I don''t know how good that will be, but he''s also recommended by this site (that''s how I found his name), and he charges a flat fee (so there''s no commission for jacking up the appraisal value).
