Well...this is just what we needed. Has anyone heard about this already? I did not know about it until today when I saw it in the on-line version of, "The New York Times".

" A new, highly contagious and sometimes deadly canine flu is spreading in kennels and at dog tracks around the country, veterinarians said yesterday.

The virus, which scientists say mutated from an influenza strain that affects horses, has killed racing greyhounds in seven states and has been found in shelters and pet shops in many places, including the New York suburbs, though the extent of its spread is unknown."

Yes, that is why they did an autoposy on my old gal who died of cancer. She indeed did have cancer - but some of her symptoms were the same.
 
Definitely scary, though the more the word gets out, the better owners and vets will be able to recognize it. Nothing is more frustrating for an animal and its human caretaker than the poor animal getting diagnosed and treated incorrectly.
