Hi all, new here and need some help between 2 emerald cut diamonds. Any help/suggestion is much appreciated!

I’m looking for something <$8500. 1.25-1.3ct, >=G, >=VS1, no fluorescent. Preferably a bigger table without sacrificing light performance. Here are the two finalists:

1. https://www.adiamor.com/Diamonds/1.30-ct-G-VVS2-Affinity-Cut-Emerald-Diamond/D51931779
I like this has a bigger table, but am a little concerned with the cut - it has a dark center/black box when viewed head-on. I wonder if it’s gonna be as obvious in real life on a solitaire setting?

2. https://www.adiamor.com/Diamonds/1.26-ct-F-VVS1-Affinity-Cut-Emerald-Diamond/D51468901
From the pictures the light performance looks great. Downside is that it’s smaller than the 1.3 and has a smaller table. I also wonder if the difference in size makes thaaaat big of a difference in real life?

Not the 1.3. It has 2 steps that go dark at the same time that take up a big section under the table. You don't want this.
The 1.26 is better but ??? Can you ask for an aset image to check on light return/leakage?

Why do you want a big table? When you get glare off the table it distracts from the whole stone. IMO, a not-large
table is better so you get more action off the pavilion facets.

Thanks for your input tyty333! I wanted a bigger table so it appears bigger (better bang for the buck). But I agree - definitely don’t want a big but dull stone!

Here are the two ASET images:

Here is my suggestion for asschers and emeralds : they face up smaller than rounds.

My suggestion is go down to VS1 or 2 and to color G so you can maximize size.

my opinion is worth nothing.A21834B2-82FE-41B0-897A-761888988786.jpeg

the sapphire side stones are .58 about. Asscher is 1.52

No I appreciate your opinion! I am ok with G color and VS 1 clarity, but haven't had much luck finding anything that I like. What do you think about the 1.26? Is it a good purchase?

Well, you really have to see them in person to evaluate, but from what you posted, i didn’t love either of them. Sorry. But, you know, I bought mine in like 2016 from blue Nile just in looking at the stats lol with no photo of the actual stone and no video. I figured they had a good return policy and I’d either like it or not. I loved it.

Check B2C jewels. Brian Gavin is an excellent choice too.

Can you share the reason why you don’t like the 1.26? I get that the 1.3 has a dark box head-on.

My plan was to get the 1.3 to see it in person, but after reading the comments here I might get the 1.26 to evaluate in person instead. Want to get as many opinions as possible. Thanks in advance!!

There is a good amount of white by the windmills. But by all means, if they have a good return policy and you are willing to ship it back if necessary, then look at it in person.

This is actually my first time hearing about the windmill. So much to learn! Thanks for your input
