Hello other pearl lovers!!!

First off - I would like to say that I''ve been lurking on this forum for a while and really love the community here. There is so much support and sharing of information here and everyone is so wonderful and helpful to each other

I''ve been thinking about buying a pearl necklace for over a year now and finally decided to take advantage of PP''s Valentine''s Day sale to treat myself to a strand of the new exotic metallics that are on sale. I am a little apprehensive about the purchase as it is difficult to purchase jewelry on the internet without viewing it first. I phoned and spoke with Natalie and asked if she could email me photos of several strands to choose from. As usual - I got the full PP treatment and Jeremy responded quite quickly with the following photo. He indicated that they had tried the strands against the skin of a Filipina in the office and they thought that these ones would be most flattering. I am so wowed (is that even a word?) by how beautiful and shiny they are that I want all 5 strands and am having a hard time deciding. Can anyone out there help me choose a strand?

Keep in mind that I am of Chinese descent but am often mistaken for Filipina.
I had originally thought that the darker, purple colours would not be as flattering on my skintone but my mom thinks they may be quite lovely.
I would prefer a strand which looks more consistent throughout - either because most of the pearls are the same colour overall or the contrast is spaced out evenly throughout so that the necklace has a symmetrical look to it.

I would like to get back to Jeremy by tomorrow evening so any advice or suggestions would be gratefully appreciated

Thank-you much!

Hello and welcome to the forum. It is so hard to help you choose since the picture is too small. What colors look best on you? What do you prefer colorwise? Hopefully those who have bought the metallics will chime in as they could help stare you in the right direction. I don''t think you could go wrong with anyone of those though!

Oh I replyed the same time that you posted that picture. From what I can tell, I like the second strand from the top and the fifth (bottom) strand. Good luck though as it is really hard to decide based on the way that picture is taken.

Wow there is so much going on in that picture that it''s really hard to tell! I don''t care for the first strand (the inside one) but the ones that CCN pointed out I''m going to agree with- but I really feel that no matter which strand you choose it''ll be a winner!

Are these the 6.5-7mm?

I like them all as well! I think any of them that you choose will be GORGEOUS on you!

It''s really hard to choose because of the way they were photographed. Is Jeremy able to get you a straight head on shot?

Thanks everyone! Yes - these are the 6.5 to 7mm that are on sale for $155.

I find that I'm drawn to the same ones as cushioncutnut (I figure I haven't earned the right to address her by her acronym yet!).
I like the colour of the darkish purplish ones on the bottom strand and how they seem to be spaced out evenly.

Although I tend to be drawn to the mauve and purples - the creams, coppers and bronzes appear to be more flattering to my skin tone.

I also like the second one from the top in that it seems to have more consistent colours (creamy, coppery tones) in the middle where the necklace is viewed most. The only thing with this strand though is that there is one super-bright shiny pearly that is just left-of-center. You can't miss it - it's the brightest pearl in the whole photo. My concern is that it will draw attention away from the rest of the necklace (I'm kinda big on symmetry). It would make a killer one-off for a ring or pendant though. Hmmm . . . maybe I should ask Jeremy about that . . .

But as everyone said - I think that they are all beautiful. Can you imagine a choker with all five over a cream strapless dress???
I may just be fussy for nothing because the contrast between the pearls are actually not that strong in the IRL photos on the other metallic thread (ie. Glitterata's strand).

Believe it or not I was crazy enough to enlarge the photo and cut out each strand so that I could compare better. I'm going to wait for daylight tomorrow and put them up against my skin to help decide. I know that I've gone totally off the deep-end on this one but I've decided that I would rather have fewer pieces of really nice jewelry so I want to choose carefully.

PS. Swedish Bean - love those earrings and pendant that you got. Wow!

LOL! That is alot of work doing all that..but I understand that you want to make sure you end up with the strand that is perfect for you! I studied the second strand and I see the white/silvery pearl that you are talking about. I would ask Jeremy if you can have that one placed in the center. Also, they will send any extra pearls in the strand if you choose to cut it down a few pearls. Keep in mind, that the pearls will have been drilled all the way through, so they won''t work too well for a ring, but would be perfect for a pendant/ or dangling earrings. I look forward to seeing which one you choose!!!

I can imagine a choker like that! I think it would be beautiful! Go for that! Go for that! (:P but then again... I prefer chokers over single strands so maybe I am biased lol )
But defenitely if you have to print out the picture and hold it against your skin to choose, do it! Maybe it will help you :D

Thanks yappy!

And as far as printing things out-- I printed the ones from the amazon.com diamond scale sheet and cut them out and was like "hmm why yes, 2 carats looks better on me than a half carat... hmmm" I say to do what works!
