I think I'd like David Klass to make my setting for my grey spinel. I'm thinking of a halo with lavender spinel or sapphire mele for the halo. And a bezel around the stone with milgrain and milgrain around the halo. I'd love french cut lavender mele in the halo but that might be a pie in the sky wish. I haven't quite worked out what the shoulders of the ring should look like but I've got some ideas.

If I can draw what I think I'd like and have some inspiration pics that show some of the finer details that are hard to draw/describe will that be enough for him to go on? It seemed like it was when I did my necklace, but this will be a good deal more complicated.

Also, how is David at sourcing mele/side stones? What about colored mele/side stones?

I think your sketch lays it out really really well. It will be beautiful.

I too think your sketch is a great starting point. I'm not sure I'd send quite so many inspirational pictures, but send what you're comfortable with. If you have an idea of size for the melee, I'd also include that. Otherwise, have him choose what he feels looks best and then go from there with the CADs. As for the profile/gallery, he'll do something if you don't give any direction, but again, you can tweak once you have CADs.

I've never had him source anything other than diamonds, so unfortunately I can't speak to that point.

Is Yvonne a good source for mele if I want something other than diamonds.

I'm generally quite happy with fairly plain galleries so I'd probably defer to David on that.

I'm so happy to see a new project in the works for you.
I love your drawing (and it's a lot better than any drawings I've ever done so you should feel proud of it). I think that I would send David a pic of CVB Amelia ring and your drawing. They have a similar structure so I think that would be a good start. I love the way you want to mix round brilliants and French cuts. It's going to be a stunning ring.

I don't know that I've ever seen Yvonne with French cuts in her page. It couldn't hurt to ask her though (there is a gem show coming up soon that could bump up your odds).

What do you think about diamonds in the halo and using some color on the shoulders?

I'd say Yvonne is a good source for colored stone melee. I've purchased from her many times and I've used some of my Instagram contacts as well, such as NAFCOGems (https://www.nafcogems.com/). If you go with the latter, just let them know you're a private collector. Never hurts to compare!
