Having been whipped into frenzy about price increases by MM and Jennifer, just kidding, I thought I would get a jump on my next two projects.I need some help and suggestions on two bands for the two rings I just made.

I’ve attached pics of both here. The three stone is 1.36c for the center and a pair of 0.60 sides. The Jubilee is a 1.19 c.

Here is a crude graphic of some options that show relative scale.I was thinking a five or seven stone shared prong or bar set in different sizes. For the Jube, I was thinking 10 shared prong or a whole band of bead set pave in about 0.02c.Ideally, the bands would stand on their own as well. Thanks so much

Hey Noobie,
Just noticed this thread.

I've said it before (I think

-real bad short term memory problem here)

The three stoner needs to stand alone. Especially the way yours is made.
I think it would take away from the ring.

For the Jubilee-I also think could stand alone-but I like the idea of the small stones (.02 I think)

But what do I know?
I know I love your rings, that's for sure.

Such great rings, Noobie....Just had to reiterate that.

I like it when bands stretch across the finger in the same way/length the ering does. It *bothers* me when people have diamond bands that “fall short” of the span of the ering. You have such substantial and full rings, you want bands that can keep up with the ering, yet not overpower them at the same time. The shared prong is my personal favorite because the limited prong/metal work shows off the stone, and it is also very versatile with different rings.

Wow…can’t wait to see how these new fun baubles evolve!

PS Don't blame me!

Why not an eternity ring???

noobie, This is a picture of my 3-stone ring with my band of 12 3-point stones. The little band goes about 1/2 - 2/3 of the way around my finger. I wanted to post it for you so you can get some idea on size. My center on the 3 stones is 1.35c and the side sapphires are each about 5.4mms. I think the size of my stones should be similar to yours.

That's a great look Patty.
The band compliments the "main" ring nicely

I'd have to agree with Patty here, the 2-3 pointer range looks like a good place to be. It's a lovely look, and complements the engagement ring without competing with it. I think going much larger with that will be too bling-y (and I know Mara's going to come along and cast me into PS hell for saying so

)

Thanks everyone, I think this could be a first, getting talked into buying something smaller! I was actually leaning towards the 5 x 0.25 carat, but after seeing Patty's and the recommendations I think an 11 or 12 stone 0.02 to 0.03 might work for both of them.

What do you think, a pave bead set like the shank of the Jubilee ring or a shared prong?

I guess I could always get a 7 x 0.20 band to be worn alone as well.

Sevens I have short term memory problems, besides need something to buy.

Bree: eternity rings are very nice, but she doesn't like the fit on the side and the care you need for the bottom

Thank you sevens and chialea.

Noobie, if you went with the same size and style as the band on your Jubilee ring, could she wear that band with both rings? It seems to me that she could.

I really like the look of a shared prong ring (like Mara's band of 2 pointers). My ring is not shared prong...each little stone has 4 prongs. That is what we seemed to find in the Stuller cataloge and my jeweler really likes the full pronged settings for safety.

You know, I used to read people's posts about the difficulty they had matching eRings to wedding bands I would never understand why it was such a big deal...Until I had to match my OWN eRing to a wedding band.

It really almost drove me (and MMM, Sevens One, cflutist, Patty...) insane.

I think you've gotten some great ideas from Patty already.

Godspeed, my friend.

When are we going to see your new band Jennifer?

Do you have to re-think it now with the 2 ct upgrade?

Hey Noobie, what's the verdict on the bands?

Noobie, as another point of reference, you know I also have a 3-stone design ring. I initially thought it had to stand alone, too, but now it looks funny to me without my w-ring.

My center stone is 1.24; sides are .30 each. I tried .02 stones, and I found that they looked out of scale to my e-ring......it didn't look like enough. 10-pointers, on the other hand, looked too big. I settled on a 7-stone ring with 5-pointers, and the scale seems just right. Small enough that it looks delicate on it's own, and small enough that it sits fairly flush to the 3-stone, but not so small that it looks overwhelmed by the 3-stone ring. Here are a few pictures.

5-pointers.jpg

..............and another picture.

5-pointers2.jpg

...........and here it is alone. Just enough to sparkle, but not overwhelming.

You're getting great advice here! I initially wanted 5 .25ct princess cut stones in a shared prong setting to go with my 3.22 ct solitaire princess, but they were too much even for my ring. I've therefore decided to go with 7 11-12 pointers (2.7-3.0 mm in width (the same width as the shank on my e-ring)) which will really compliment my e-ring rather than detract from it
1.gif

BTW, I think for your ring you should do as Aljdewey and go for 5 pointers--just enough to have lots of sparkle and look good alone, but not be so much as to take away from your beautiful e-ring!

Researcher, that will be awesome! Can't wait to see it.

PS can you clone your princess for MMM before she goes nuts?

Well,

I followed the advice here and bought something I wasn't even considering. It's an eternity band with 3 point stones in a shared prong setting. It's going take a couple weeks to make and will be a surprise. I figure it's the best match for the Jubilee and the three stone. Well, so far first one that she has had zero input.

Is there any "rule" against wearing eternity bands on the right hand?

I have a 30 day money back so if she doesn't like it I can always get one with five or seven point stones a la aljdewey and researcher

I have to stop coming here, it's costing me too much money
6.gif
. If you haven't noticed I don't think about things too much after deciding. I just go buy it.

noobie, I hope you and she love it! I was just re-reading this thread...Do you think that the feeling of stones going all around will bother her hand? You mention that earlier. I didn't realize that when I suggested that you go with the eternity style.

Noobie~
She will love whatever you give her because it comes from you. I'm sure it will look beautiful!

Jennifer5973~
I would LOVE to clone my princess for MMM, but I think she'll be happy with her jubilee (it's what she's really wanted all along). I just can't believe how difficult it is to find a spectacular p-cut stone! Are you already looking for yours? I'd begin the search now! If you don't mind an "I" in color, there's a stone I was considering that's 3.65 cts....

Thanks guys, I actually upgraded it to 4 pointers in an eternity band about 1.1 ctw. I have a 30 day money back in case she doesn't like it, although she has never told me she doesn't like anything. I only find out in passing years later. Is this a female thing?

Good decision! As for not saying anything right away being a female trait, it's not. I'm actually a little too honest at times, but it may be because my profession requires me to be blunt (no company president is going to listen to a strategy when I'm saying "I think that maybe it would be nice if we..." so I tend to just get to the point and say what I mean. However, I do have several girl friends who tell me they love things yet complain about them to everyone else. I think the best approach is to tell her that you want her to love the ring, and remind her that if she doesn't it can be returned within a certain time frame (and that it won't hurt your feelings if she does want to trade it in).

Hey Noobie, is Quest doing this one? I can't wait to see it.

Hi Noobie. The thing is that the recipient does not want to come off as ungrateful if she says it's not her style because she loves it because you gave it to her. I'm not explaining this well but I hope you get the gist of it.

Chrono, you are so polite. I know, I was kinda half kidding. Used to be exactly as you said, but now I just rather know. It was more when I used to bring back things when travelling abroad. The silver and malachite set from Mexico was the least liked. Years later I asked, why don't you ever wear it? The worst value purchase was a set of three stone diamond earings and pendant set I bought on a business trip in a foreign city on a lunch break in a mall. This was before my PS days. Not the best way way to drop a few thousand. I don't recommend it.

Sevens, Quest is not making this one since it is so standard. There is no personal design elements in this one. I didn't want to go through the trouble of sourcing stones for something that was fairly common. It was easier to get it all at the place.

Are you going with a local B&M?
Let me know how it goes, since we're in the same neighborhood.

Of course, let me see how it turns out and you'll have all the details. I originally wanted to get it from White Flash, until they started treating me as a persona non grata.

If you don't mind me asking, who was it you worked with at WF? I worked (am working with) Denise, and she's amazing!!! She even contacted me when she was out sick AND when she was taking a day off to spend with her gorgeous new nephew! I have never in my life experienced such amazing service!

The CEO, at her invitation. Sent two e-mails weeks ago without a response.
