Diamond Bistro?

Apparently they got hacked. From BTD's facebook page:

HI Kim - yes almost back. We are moving to a new server with latest OS. We had an hack uploaded via our message boards along with upgrades at the data center that combined to create multiple issues, and while the hack was quickly fixed, we are changing to a new OS which will be more secure. BTD will be on it's own isolated server instead of with message boards. Hope to be back and running today with improved server!
 
Today I received a completely different response on the FB page. They stated that they weren't sure if they were even going to keep the DB page going because they lose money on it every day. They are still trying to figure out a way to cover the costs of running the site but it was not very encouraging and a very different answer than originally posted. Let's hope it is back up but for now it isn't sounding like a priority. Fingers crossed.
 
Anything new? Still can't access it as the site is down...
 
If you go to their facebook page they will respond to your question but i really got the impression they are not going to be offering DB anymore - they had a detailed response about how it isn't financially sustainable... :cry2: I really will miss it if it doesn't come back, I feel like there were other sellers on there that didn't know about LT and they will be forever lost!
 
This is unfortunate, but not surprising.

One more reason I am glad I captured screenshots of items I bought/sold since it would appear any record on DB is now possibly gone. :(2
 
Oh...I totally forgot I had bought a few things off DB but hadn't saved the listing info. Nuts. And, there were a few ring settings that I had favorited but hadn't pulled the trigger on. I'd be sad too to see DB gone. Hope they can make it work out somehow, but it's understandable if they can't.
 
I remember reading DB had 1400 individual views daily. It is going to be a bit harder to sell pre-loved items now. Sad to see this site go.
 
I'm thinking about whipping up a little code so that people can get e-mails on LT without having to disclose their e-mail address or rely on LT's email proxy.

Is there any interest? This would be free, and I'd basically support it out of pocket unless it got too expensive.

Hmm, Don't know what to think.. I got a different response and it is very sad to say the least.

We had some unexpected, and unplanned server issues recently week, and these took down all of our websites, including our discussion board and the DiamondBistro.

Our priority has been to ensure that BetterThanDiamond was fully restored and secure, which it is.
We are still working behind-the-scenes on our other sites.

I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

At this time I do not have an ETA on when we might be getting the DiamondBistro back up.

This is very sad, I have really enjoyed selling my pre-loved items on the DB and have so been blessed to have met many nice people using this avenue.
Does anyone have any ideas of places to sell our pre-loved jewelry besides Ebay or Etsy? I already use LT.. Don't want to use Craigslist either..
 
Thanks for the newest update despite the disappointing words. I am now on LT regularly, without the Bistro there really isn't anything else like it. All those additional fees on ebay and etsy affect pricing, it's been so nice to be able to find interesting and loved pieces at more affordable prices, I really didn't own anything nice before DB and LT. If anyone has suggestions I'm all ears and eyes.
 
@Clunkygirl I totally agree with you and if I listed on Ebay or Etsy I would certainly have to increase my prices in order to cover all extra the fees and I don't want to do that :(( to my would be buyers. I have thoroughly enjoyed selling on DB and meeting so many nice people over the years (repeat buyers) that genuinely loved my pre-owned items and that makes a real difference in the overall transaction.;)2 I am very saddened about it and the fact that I have lost all my listings on DB doesn't help..:(sad

I'm considering building a replacement for diamondbistro if it's shut down for good.
Question for you all- if diamondbistro never came back, would you want a replacement for it with the same set of features? Or would you all be content to use Loupetroop as long as the communications system is fixed/improved?

yesss! i knew some enterprising soul would get on this. i liked DB for the paypal integration & it had, easier to search/browse, & a wider variety of postings. hopefully some of the irritating things, like how hard it is to load photos, could be fixed in DB2.0
 
I think it had a Add to Cart/Buy It Now feature, right? That was awesome. I also liked that it had a Favorites list, so I could bookmark things I was interested in.

Oh, and with DB down, I've been shopping on Instagram. A lot of etsy and ruby lane sellers on there who offer discounts if you buy w/Paypal through IG cuz they avoid shop fees. I got a deal on a vintage platinum band that arrived today. Smooth transaction.
Harder to shop though, unless you know what you're looking for or who.

Yes and yes!:geek2: I totally agree with the issue of loading photos or editing listings and having to do all that captcha photo matching stuff! I absolutely hated:x2 that even if I wanted to update my listings with better photos!:mrgreen2:

I just checked the website before coming here and also got that so I hope that they are making progress to return.. PLEASE COME BACK DB!!:wavey: WE MISS YOU!;(
