Diamond color - Engagement vs. Wedding Band

My engagement ring is an M color old mine solitaire (~2 carats). I've started to look at wedding bands and will likely go with a delicate 5 stone setting (~.5 carat weight in total).

My question - should I aim to find something closer to the M color scale for my wedding band? Most I'm seeing are higher in the color range and I'm not sure if that will look funny. I'm undecided if I will go with another vintage cut (omc, old euro, transitional) or modern round brilliant.

Appreciate any advice!

I do think with an M OMC you’d want to get in the same color range, and also get single cuts if it’s melee, or OMC if the stones in the band are bigger. My original engagement ring is a transitional stone; I’d guess H color? I bought a diamond band that had modern round brilliant cut melee and it looked terrible next to the transitional. The MRB cuts sparkled in such a different way that they made the transitional look dull, rather than complimenting it.

Can you share inspiration photos of the type of wedding band you want? And your current stone?

Personally, I would go with old cut or single cut stones in an L/M color. Is your setting yellow or white metal?

I agree with the others...go lower in color and probably stay away from round brilliants.

Depending on your budget and what you like, I feel you can get away with higher color rose cuts and French cuts. My OMC is S-T color and these are F-G rose cuts and frenchies from single stone



I also think something like this from Sako would be yummy



But all of these would be quite expensive so it does really depend on what you’re after
